Imagine if Yugoslavia Never Broke Up... Their National Team would be incredible

Crazy to think that if Yugoslavia never broke up, they could possibly be contending for a World Cup. Maybe not win it entirely, but they'd sure be considered top 10 in the world at least, no? Check out their projected side.

Koreans are crazy. Somebody would have had to take them out by now if they were still together. Great boxing though. Craziest boxing fans in the world. Everybody in the stands wants to fight too.

It doesn't work this way. Before Yugoslavia broke up, their team was decent but never great. Just like their current teams.

If someone built another Brazilian or Spanish teams with completely different roster, very likely, they will be still very good (top 8) in the world cup.

When you get to that level, luck/coach etc. play a more important role during the tournament.

If you play fantasy soccer or soccer video games, yes, that would very different.

If they never split up, Korea would have Jong Tae-se, Son Heung Min and Ki Sung Yueng as an attacking force. Pretty solid.

When you get to that level, I'd say quality of players/coaches and strategy/tactics play a lot more important role than "luck."

Germany didn't beat Brazil 7-1 because they were "lucky." They were simply better. They had better players, a better system and a better coach. Nothing lucky about their win or their World Cup victory.

This projected Yugoslavia team would be very competitive. They have the components of a very good 4-3-3 attacking team with one of the Europe's best transitioning defensive midfielders in Matic and highly creative central midfielders in Modric and Rakitic plus an above average attacking unit.

In defense you have a solid center back pairing it looks like with Subotic and Lovren and an excellent right back who has the potential to push forward and score goals as a massive aerial threat in Ivanovic.

No. German was very lucky. Neymar got injured before the semi-final. The defense line of the Brazilian team had to work as if they were mid-fielders, that is why they lost 7 goals. Of course, bad coaching as well. Everybody knows Brazilian's defense line was never that strong. So Germans had a very easy Semi-final game and rested one more days than Argentinian.

Argentinian had a very tough semi-final game. 120 mins. Di Maria got injured as well before the game. He was the most important midfielder for the Argentinian team at that time. After he got injured, Argentinian didn't score a single goal.

In the final, Argentinian missed some really nice shots. If you watched the game you would know Argentinian played much better.

After the world cup, Argentinian beat the crap out of the Germans in the friendly when Di Maria was back to the team.

In a tournament like world cup, luck is most important factor. An injury or yellow card can easily change the history. That is why it is extremely hard to predict who is going to win in the end. That is also why it is extremely hard to win two championships in a row. If you really think German is the best team, I would say you don't know much about soccer.

It takes a special kind of idiot to call a team winning a world cup game 7-1 "very lucky".

If Neymar had played the semi-final game, Germans have zero chance to win the world cup. If you can't see that, you are simply stupid. no question about it.

Neymar is a great player, but no way he turns a 7-1 loss into a Brazil win. If you can't see that, you are simply stupid. No question about it.

Just think--if the US never broke away from British rule, the British World Cup team would be awesome!

Same could be said if Germany had Reus and Brazil had Neymar it would still be 7-1.. Reus is just as good as Neymar...
