    CDL being Destroyed

A few years ago, the CDL was born to free the top clubs from having to waste their time playing smaller clubs that were inferior on the field, it got tiring winning games by 9 or 10 goals, and to allow like minded clubs to get battle tested for State Cup. Somewhere along the way this whole concept has fallen apart, the CDL has fallen apart and I don't think it can get better. Basically, over the past few years the CDL has been adding clubs that really have no business in any league other than the USA League, many of the top clubs now simply refuse t o play their top teams in the league and would rather just farm the age group out to a smaller club than waste their time playing in that age group. The whole concept of the original intent of the CDL has been torn down, with each passing year the league becomes weaker and weaker, at what point will the top tier clubs simply pull out of the league and form another version of the CDL minus the weaker clubs?

Both leagues are bad, USA is probably still below the CDL, there are some D1 USA League teams that would be strong in the CDL. Many of the newer clubs that the CDL has admitted are clubs that have been pulverized in the USA League, so not sure if the CDL is just looking for cash at this point, but I agree that the intent to strengthen area teams for larger venues has been eroded. I would agree with you that the bigger stronger clubs are going to soon pull out of the CDL to form a power league with Orlando area clubs. The CDL is basically the USA League with slightly less travel, although the travel has diminished for the USA League since they stopped teams from having to travel south.

CDL quality really deteriorated two seasons ago when top clubs put their top teams in the statewide leagues. I saw one game two years ago and the Brandon/East Lake Flames entered their fourth team in the CDL.

Remember the song Video killed the radio star...well, DA, ECNL, FPL, NPL, FSPL killed the majority of all leagues. There are only so many elite team that can go around.

WFF doesnt send a single one of their top teams to the CDL, Chargers top teams have migrated to state leagues and they either send B teams or they bring in another small club to fill the age group. TBU has none of their top teams playing in the CDL. Basically you have clubs like Sarasota, Strictly, Lakeland, Houston Dynamo which is essentially the USA League.

From U14 and older, the larger clubs are sending their B or C teams. Some are even sending a younger team to play up. The worse thing about playing in CDL is that teams are not prepared for the competition of State Cup. TBU, WFF, and OCYS do not have their top teams there. Chargers may have a couple.

USA and CDL are very much rec programs over the age of U12. But the clubs will still act like you are developing into a future MLS player and charge you $1000 + per year. It is a scam and a joke. You either are moving to play at a club in a top league or you are Rec in expensive uniforms. But stop being ignorant with your money.

So where's the CDL Kool-aid drinkers? They're usually on here defending CDL within seconds of a negative post. Could it be possible that they have come to realize what we've been saying is the truth? CDL has been in decline for several years now, and is pretty much on level with USA D1, and even has many USA D1 teams in their league. Maybe they've spiked the Kool-aid and are too nauseous to post?

No, we are just tired of arguing with a monkey.

If the rumors are true that the CDL will be adding GTBFC and Celtic next season, then this league is on life support. Adding two teams that struggle to stay relevant in the USA League is an asinine move and will speed up the process of driving out the better clubs.

We have Celtic in our league in the USA League, they are poorly coached and just a bad team, both times we played them, we pulled the starters at halftime because it was such a rout. GTBFC doesnt have a team this year in our age group, they were nearthe bottom last year. I guess the whole rule of the CDL that each club must have a team for each age group sort of has went out the window, so maybe they will add GTBFC. I thought the whole purose of forcing clubs to have a team at each age group was to weed out the smaller clubs and make the CDL a premier league.

Your last point is why a lot of teams, mostly USA teams, are asked to fill spots now...the member clubs can't / won't field a team in each age group!

Actually, the idea behind CDL was for all of the teams from one club to play the teams from another club on the same day and at the same location in order that the clubs' DOCs could be better able to interact with all of their teams, coaches and players. Now there are too many leagues and the larger CD clubs have too many teams for that concept to work well.

With the addition of all the state leagues there is not room for both CDL and USA League. They need to be combined into one league or one league needs to go away.
