In other words, he sucked in Europe so he has no choice but to come back to MLS where soccer isn't so competitive. Probably helps that he's getting DP money too.

In other words ... You are wrong

He couldn't play at in EPL because he couldn't get a work permit. He played in Holland and did well.

He hasn't played anywhere in the last 10-12 months...

well, closer to almost 9 (last played on 5/3/14), but it is true that he hasn't played in a while and it would be 10 when the Revs season starts.

He had some success in Holland, and he should do well if he comes back to MLS.

Great news. Best striker in the U.S. Hopefully Klinnsman pays attention.

            Thanks for the post.

Exactly. I've never heard of any decent professional forward not playing for a long period of time like that. I mean... surely some team must have wanted him? No?

What the heck has happened to Juan Agudelo? Such a drop off this year. And it seems to be getting worse. Enough skill to recently be a legitimate national team player, and now he's struggling to get into a Revs game. He seems exhausted as soon as he steps onto the field.

I hope everything is okay with him and the Juan from 2 years ago shows up again sooner than later.

He is still injured after his national team stint. He shouldn't have played today.

I googled and didn't find anything about any recent injury. I heard them mention something briefly tonight but I don't think he's looked right all year. I hope I'm wrong and if there's an injury it clears up quickly but more importantly, completely. Juan is one of those difference makers whose variety of skill and tenacity make soccer very fun to watch.

He couldn't get a work permit because he wasn't good enough. They don't just hand out work permits to footballers playing in the 3rd or 4th division.

Juan wasn't good enough to make it in Europe. End of story.

No that's not the story. He didn't have enough caps or EU nationality get his work permit. The English system doesn't work for young soccer players no matter how good they are. They need to hit some stringent guidelines.

Here were the rules when he applied

Non-European players desiring a British work permit must have featured in at least 75 percent of competitive international games in the previous two years for a top-70 ranked team.

                              Here are rules now

Now only players from the top 50 FIFA nations will be considered, with a sliding scale of appearances required — from 30 percent of games over two years for the 1-10 teams to 75 percent for 31-50 teams.

This new rule purportedly would have kept out Cesc Fagergas as 16 year old.
