Best Young Football Talents and Real Madrid's Recent Signing

What do you think about Real Madrid signing 16 year old Norwegian sensation, Martin Odegaard?

He looks like a real talent and with the right training regiment with his tender age, I think he could be a great player in the Spanish Primera in a few years.

These are some of the top young talents in the footballing world today playing in the highest youth level possible:

These guys are all younger than 18 yrs old and in my opinion the top 3 youth footballers to look out for in the future.

I don't understand why that Martin Odegaard kid opted out of playing in 1st divison Norway to play in the 3rd division Spanish Primera

I know he's still only 16 but wouldn't playing in a 3rd division stunt his growth? Or am I just underestimating the Spanish 3rd division and overestimating the kid's abilities?

The Odegaard kid has tremendous skill, vision and creativity. He almost looks like a complete player already (minus 30 pounds). Halilovic has a cannon and, it appears, some ability to create his own opportunities. I'm not sure what people are seeing in the Korean kid unless they think his speed advantage is going to persist and increase over time. Doesn't usually happen and I didn't see tremendous skill or creation for others on that highlight tape. A high revving motor though, that's for sure.

Why is it that virtually every soccer highlight video is accompanied by complete weinie music?

The Korean kid has been praised by the Barca youth academy coaches so many times, I just had to check him out. At first, if you don't really watch a lot of soccer and don't notice the little intricacies of the game it's hard to tell him apart. Odegaard and Halilivic are both extremely talented players but play with a lot of flair and that's probably what caught your eye, it's not unreasonable and most people judge players on their ability to be flashy. Scouts have to look at other components in a player's game and this what I think separates European scouting from American scouting; they look at other aspects of the one's game that most North Americans don't even know exist. The Korean kid has been playing under the youth academy and the coaches have been saying how efficient he is. I kept watching some of this highlight types and full game matches, and he's always the catalyst for the attack. I don't think people in Spain and people at the best youth academy in the world would be praising this kid if he wasn't good or mediocre.

If you look at his transfer history, he just keeps moving up the rank in Barca's youth academy.

and he's in some very good company it appears like:

Could he somehow not live up to all the hype? Sure, he could very well get injured or just not adapt to the senior level. But, there sure is something extremely innate about the kid that Spanish scouts are clamoring about. The more you follow youth clubs like Ajax or Barcelona La Masia, you realize how delicate and thorough each scouting process is. They don't just have scrubs on their youth team.

He is partially right. Do you think you're a better scout than the professionals who work at La Masia and Barcelona Youth Academies?

Agree you will never see Korea boy in a top league. Norway boy is a lock.
