What are the rules for being a "discovery player" in the ECNL?

Can anyone speak to what a "discovery player" is and what the rules surrounding being one are? How many games are you allowed to play? Are there any limits to the number of discovery players a team can have? Are there any roster freeze type regulations to be aware of?

Don't let your current team find out that you are testing the waters. Or you may find yourself warming the bench

NEFC will find out because your name shows up on the online ECNL roster.

There are no limits on how many games you can play but if your "home club" and the ECNL club are playing in the same event (ex CASL, Jeff Cup etc) you must play for the home club. There are limits, I think 2 per year but it goes up at older ages.

A player not affiliated with an ECNL club but is rostered so that they can play for the ECNL team if they want to. Basically it's dual rostering between non ecnl and ecnl clubs.

Is it only a player from a USYS affiliated club or can player from a US Club affiliated club also be a discovery player? The big question is can a player from a NPL team in an ECNL club be a discovery player for another ECNL club?

Gee, another ECNL thread? Wonder which direction this one is intended? If only that bottomless well of hate was filled with oil instead.

No, it has to be a non ECNL club the player comes from.

How many games can the player play and what obligation is there for the player to join the club after the number games are played? Can a discovery player participate in the ECNL championships? Can the player continue to be a discovery player indefinitely into the following year?

The parents of the "IDP" players have to be laughing their asses off if this whole thread is legit because not only can their kids play for their base team and in the IDP program but then apparently they can also play for ECNL teams without having to leave their club. Talk about the club pass on steroids.

Wonder who is more upset, NEFC or the parents of players sitting near the end of the bench of some ECNL team?

Are you concerned about all this alleged misery, or just enjoying it?
