A lot of local kids on this team. Steeves (Needham/Bolts) and Dominik Machado (Attleboro/Revs) are playing big roles on the team as sophomores.

In the Men's college cup, a #1 seed, a #3 seed, a #4 seed, and a unranked team from each bracket are included. Of the 3 #1 seeds in each bracket, one didn't win a game and the second (defending nat'l champ) and tournament favorite lost their second game. The lone #1 seed survived an 8 shot PK round to barely make it in.
Meanwhile on the girls side, three #1 seeds cruised in and the lone #2 seed UVA is clearly as good as anyone and had an epic win over the #1 seed in bracket.
Clearly there is more parity on the men's side; on a given day any of the final sixteen could win it all. And IMO the primary reason for that is the DAP.

DAP, yes. But the level of international recruiting at the D1 level is growing by leaps and bounds. D1 schools are raiding the academy programs overseas, too. It's so tough for an American boy to contribute at the D1 level.

Agreed, although refreshingly, ND won it all last year with 0 Internationals and gave it a go this year with only 1. Meanwhile on the girls side, FSU is like the United Nations with I believe 7 countries on the roster. Let's see if they break through today and set a new tone on that side.

Yeah in the college cup, expect 5 Germans, 4 Brits, and 5 Others to play.

Believe it of not, lots of local kids on the team. Most from Mass. Yes, 2 Germans, 1 Brazilian, 1 Norwegian. Even the Englishmen knows better, No English players on the starting 11.

Big difference on the women's side because the US women are still considered the top of the pyramid. It is the inverse of the men's side. The FSU situation probably has more to do with the money (internationals are usually full pay - with discounted dollars) than the soccer.

Yeah, the most international team of the four is UCLA; the least is UVA.
