    ID2 vs ODP

I don't think kids are allowed to participate in both programs anymore. Is this correct? ID2 is free and you pay for ODP. ID2 looks like a lot of training without any organized state or regional teams. ODP has state teams, thus more game playing. What are the pros and cons of each? Which one is better?

My daughter did both. There are no rules not allowing you to do both.

ID2 is not much for the girls other than a 4 day camp. I think ID2 is great for the boys if you make the traveling team. I think the focus is on the boys and they have a girls program to stay PC.

ID2 is also only for one age group. ID2 is free so why not if you get invited.

If you are paying for a soccer camp only one person/organization is benefiting. Not the player!
If your player is never invited to a camp without a fee involved then your player really is not good.Face the facts and save your player the heart ache and save your money to pay for college.

Politics. Rule #1. Never put your kid on a team with a parent as a coach. It is just asking for trouble.

The recommendation system is flawed because the recommendations are sometimes based on relationships and not pure soccer. Soccer is not like baseball where you can support recommendations with numbers therefore you have bias introduced bacause some DOCs never attend training sessions or games. Some of the coaches are biased and use system to provide opportunities for a certain set of people.

Having some kind of tryout and scouting is very important for some players to get a look. Sometimes paying some fee is worth it if you can afford it and if you can't just play and enjoy the game. This recommendation model or the cost of club based soccer is a major part of the problem with youth soccer specially on the boys side.
