The United States’ winless streak stretched to four games Tuesday with a year-ending 4-1 loss to a second-string Ireland team in Dublin. Jurgen Klinsmann needs to take a four month sabbatical to rethink his approach on many fronts. Too many of us grew up hearing how people born in the United States know nothing about the game, cannot play, and need to watch and learn from foreigners. That message is worn out, which is exactly the way JK's team looks and his approach is quickly becoming.

I really can't think of a good candidate that hasn't been there already.
Jay Heaps maybe?

MLS is Division 2-3....remember the hack that missed the wide open net against Belgium, he is a Star in the MLS. Wondo......something.

Klinnsman needs to be replaced. We need someone looking to make US soccer great in it's entirety rather than telling our young players that the essentially need to go to Europe if they want a sniff.
He lost me when he took a cheap shot at Landon Donovan on the very day that Donovan played his last National team game. And his stated goal for 2018 WC is to make the semi's. Why say that? I realize to win would require a near miracle but what's the point of saying you're happy with 4th? Thank God Herb Brooks didn't have Klinnsman's attitude as he prepared for the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Klinsman is trying to fix the problem. It will take a decade or longer. In the mean time we reap the harvest we have sewn over the past 40 years. Not his fault.

We could develop the best academies on the planet but if the they don't have our best athletes (like other countries do) will always be fighting an uphill battle.
What would US soccer look like right now if a good number of division 1 football cornerbacks and wide receivers as well as division 1 point guards and #2 guards had been playing soccer for the last 10 years rather than football and basketball?
We need a leader that doesn't scoff at the idea. Rather we need someone that finds a way to change those minds at a young age and makes it possible for them to play a game that ONLY REQUIRES A BALL AND A FIELD BUT SOMEHOW NOW MOST PARENTS NEED TO SPEND THOUSANDS for their son or daughter to even consider getting serious about it.

Sounds like a government bureaucrat who's going to create a 'committee' to find a solution. We need a different leader who has the ability to get more of our young, best athletes excited about soccer. The key there is our BEST ATHLETES.
