    MAPLE Soccer in a Northeaster?

Seriously MAPLE soccer? I understand that soccer is played in all weather and we are getting down to the end of the season and no one wants make-up games, but is it really necessary (not to mention smart) to have kids travelling all over MA with driving rain, 50-60 mph wind gusts and possibly snow to play?

ESPECIALLY when the kids are TEN??

Someone with common sense needed to intervene here...what a joke! Let's just hope that everyone stays safe on the roads.

You should have had some common sense. You want to stay home play town soccer.

I wouldn't play Maple in good weather.

OK...at my son's U11 game outside Boston there was an inch and a half of snow on the field. The ref was 40 minutes late, arrived and wanted to cancel the game (when the visiting team travelled 2+ hours), the wind was blowing 40 mph gusts and the goals had no weights and kept blowing over (parents had to stand on them to keep them upright) and the kids were so cold that they jumped in running cars when not in the game.

Yeah...that was really a good idea to play.

Travel soccer is too dangerous for you give up and have your kids stay home and play Candyland instead.

Any club hosting should have cancelled. Those that haven't are selfish and clueless!

Maple has extended the season for make up games so there's no reason to put kids thru misery.

So here in CMass wind but no rain. Should Maple cancel each and every game?

Don't know why Progin is closed? Just drove down rt 2, and besides a couple of gusts of wind, the roads are dry, and driving was like any other windy day. The south coast and south shore are a mess though. Snow accumulating among the leaves on the road. Very sneaky slippery! Easy call to cancel games being played in the south today. The tough call is, when do you cancel in central and western mass, if south eastern mass teams have to travel. I bet if you polled the team parents/players, it would be 50/50. Some don't mind it, and even enjoy this type of day, and some don't. These types of days, and the debate it creates, will always be heavily influenced by the team/club/coaches own views. Not enough here to be a cut and dry decision. No pun intended! Whichever it is, play or no play, be safe!
