    Best players playing in DA

Can we end this argument once and for all:

U.S. U-18 MNT Roster Named for October Camp: U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Javier Perez has brought in 36 players for a domestic camp from Oct. 23-31 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, California. Among the roster, 35 of the 36 are currently registered with Academy clubs.

Practice/training makes the best athletes into best players.

Among this roster, 35 of the 36 players are currently registered with Development Academy clubs, and everyone has a tie-in with an Academy club

        Interesting vaguely written statement

That is great and I would agree that the level of player is top at most, but also this can be a limiting factor. It would be arrogant and naive at the same time that we would only look at one source for the best players. In a country with a huge geographic area to assume that the 70+ academy's can can get 99% of the players is the arrogance and the naivety. College coaches in any sport do not use one source for their athletes. The academies currently get the attention and for the most part it makes sense, however I would not put all of my eggs in one basket as we could be missing out on some great talent. By the way I have a son in the DA system and I am pleased with his progression, but he is not the only good to excellent player in america. His plan is to leverage the DA on his resume to give him a leg up getting into a high end university for a degree via his brain, and besides that he likes playing soccer.

I thought the DA was about developing our next professional players not college players....

It is and for the most part as the father of a player in the DA of an MLS club (NOT IN FLORIDA and he has since graduated) the MLS DA clubs don't give a rat's ass about your kid going to college. They are all about the next "home grown" star they can funnel through their system or the USMNT.

No need to state the obvious. Florida doesn't have a MLS team yet.

OC has a fully funded MLS DA.

Orange County isn't in Florida -- duh!

What MLS team is funding them?

Here's a list to pick from:

who cares less the 1% will play at the next level. Have them become a ref and get a class d coaching license. They will make more then most MLS players.

No, it just really annoys me when an organization chooses to try to take a moniker that does not belong to them. OC is and always will be Orange County to any normal American -- it was that way long before the TV show. Orlando City will never own the moniker. The only way the moniker makes sense is if the team is based in Cali.

Technically, OC can also refer to Oxycontin.
