    North Manatee Soccer Club

I saw that North Manatee county is getting a new soccer club. Not sure of all the details but they are playing at Buffalo Creek fields and start in the fall of 2014. I know they have rec soccer but I think they are looking to start travel soccer as well. They are backed by the AYSO. Does anyone have any more details?

Looks like they are expanding their rec program.

I signed my daughter up the other day. Sounds like they have over 100 kids signed up so far. I hope this program works out. I hate driving to Braden River from Parrish for practices. This area needs a soccer program to support all the families moving to Ellenton, Parrish and Palmetto.
Braden River and Chargers are so expensive they wanted over $100 for rec.
North Manatee Soccer Club was only $65.

You get what you pay for. I'm not knocking them for trying but your kid will more than likely be playing coed with multiple year combined age groups, not to mention playing the same 2 teams over and over every week. Frankly paying $120 for 10 weeks of soccer, in a single age group with only girls is worth the drive to BR to me. Hope you have fun.

I asked the coordinator about the rec program.
This is what he said: "They are teaming with the AYSO to get coaches to go through coaching classes. Not all coaches will be trained but they will offer it.

Also, the kids won't play the same teams over 10 games. NMSC will be playing Mayso rec teams, Chargers rec teams and even AYSO rec teams from Ruskin. I wouldn't be looking on this site if I didn't care about soccer. My daughter is only U8 but I still want her to learn the sport and grow to love it.

He also mentioned that they might be teaming with the Fishawk club to sponsor their travel program. Since they are new, they don't have 10 travel ready teams to enter into the Florida youth soccer travel league.

                Follow up

Looks like NMSC is for real. I was told they have over 150 kids signed up to play rec. Not bad for a first year club. I hope it does well because I don't like running to Braden River for practices.

Don't say you're not trying to knock them because that is exactly what you are doing. And you're trying to influence someone else in the process...when they sounded pretty happy to me.

Fishhawk? Now there is a winning idea. Check the primary/secondary field rule

                        Great little club

My kid played at North Manatee soccer club this past season. Up to this point, we have been playing at the YMCA and Upward. I was impressed with what I saw. I think my kid learned more soccer this year than all the other seasons together. The coaches were awesome and the concept was cool. The age group had World cup team names and jersey colors to match.
Everyone got to play and the kids had fun. Can't wait for next season!

North Manatee Soccer Club Mutiny travel team

You get what you pay for!

Typical "daddy coaches" scenario where coaches have little to no qualifications or real experience. Similar to rec level just nicer uniforms and travel more. Learning as they go at the expense of older kids who need real technical coaching and real competitive games. Club head selling these teams to new parents as legit and competitive but they're far from it.

Look around for best coaches and training environment for your child's skill level, but don't be afraid to question what you hear and see at this club even if they dont want you to. This should be about the kids not a group of 4-5 parents trying to build a new business.

Hold up, hold up, hold up. Let me get this straight, you are bitching about a team that your older kid plays on from a club that is only 2 years old. What are you complaining about again? “You get what you pay for” …..What? If I’m not mistaken, you pay like $200 to be on a travel team there. Are you an idiot? That barely covers the cost to rent fields and lights for your team for the season. The coach doesn’t get paid or take money for travel expenses. Most of the training equipment they have is their own (purchased with their own money). Your coach might not be a former professional soccer player but what did you expect? You pay so little compared to other clubs. LWR chargers: $1200, BRSC: $700 and that’s just the base. Uniforms, tournaments, volunteer fees, coaches expenses, ref fees, training kits, etc. In my opinion, you get more than you pay for. The coaches there care. They care about your kid and they care about making them better. Sorry that you took the cheap way to soccer training this whole time and now feel bad about it. Blame yourself for the years at the YMCA or Upward. If little Mia or Pele got the right training to start soccer, you would have never found this club.

Interesting to see this topic resurrected. I looked into this club earlier this year and had hard time finding much info.

My child and I visited several of North Manatee's competitive practices to watch and speak with others. My child has competitive experience with 2 other established clubs already but we were interested in this team's location and lower entry cost.

I do agree with other poster regarding "get what you pay for" at least in this instance. Although lower entry cost was nice; the level of play, coaching, size of practice areas, etc. seemed lower quality than what we were used to. Several team parents stated all competitive coaches were parents and club was relatively new. Not much info on league play, tournaments, or # of games over full season, but got impression from parents it wasn't that many and more club emphasis on occasional scrimmages.

Overall, my opinion was that teams and coaches were very inexperienced and probably would have difficult time competing at D3 level but maybe their published records show otherwise. Club reps did mention often to us their lower costs as compared to other clubs so it seems to be a main marketing point. We chose to go elsewhere strictly because of level of play and coaching and not cost. Good luck to all
