Bay State Conference - boys soccer 2014

OK, now that the club season is done, discussion can turn to the coming school season. Suggest that each league and gender have their own thread. In BSC:
    Braintree - On the rise
Brookline - Nice recovery last fall after a down year or two. Assuming league's best keeper is back, they should reach the tournament again.
Dedham - let's see what they do with "opt-out" scheduling this time. They should make the tournament in 2014.
Framingham - if they can play as a team, may have best chance to challenge Needham
Milton - had some quality players in 2013, but don't know if they return
Natick - this is their year to replace Wellesley atop the Herget Division
Needham - should be a contender again
Newton North - best player graduating, so they face an uphill climb
Norwood - good keeper returns? Should try to take advantage of opt-out scheduling to get a shot at D2 tournament.
Walpole - impressive run in the 2013 d2 tournament, after struggling in league play, is why BSC is regarded as the toughest league in most years
Wellesley - probably won't have the quality of last fall's team. Time will tell if still a tournament contender.
Weymouth - lets see if they strike a different balance between the strength of their non-league schedule and quality of their team

Needham easily. They have all those great players from the u17 blazers national champion team.

Besides guessing which team will lead the league, which teams will be on the tournament bubble, still trying to qualify in the last week of the season?

Weymouth will miss the first time in forever. They have one player who can score, but nothing around him, and the league mvp goalkeeper is graduating. They will be in trouble. Kind of interesting how this all coincides with the first group of kids who will be leading the team also are the first group of kids who played for the Weymouth "club" program.

You mean that Weymouth "club" team that beat up on all those high priced club teams? That wound still stings? What a puss you are.

Most of those kids are playing on top club teams right now. Sounds like they got a great foundation of fundamentals back in the days of that Weymouth "club."

Like the girls team last year? That coach needed to work hard at being that awful.

Ok Weymouth mom or dad. That team never played better than Maple d2. Which of those kids are playing DAP, for nefc or for gps bulldogs? Those would be the high level teams. GPS crusaders, CSU, Galway and scorpions does not count at any of those ages.

If it was not for the gk last year the team would have won maybe 4/5 games? There is a reason he was the MVP on a team that snuck in tourney. It is because the players in front of him were not very good and the other coaches knew it. Too bad you can't see that.

If they went the DAP route they wouldn't be able to play high school soccer. There are 11 other high school teams listed in the first post. How many of those 250 kids are on the roster of the top NEFC team or the GPS Bulldogs? Do those clubs carry 75 people on their rosters? Why don't teams in their area like CSU, GPS Crusaders and Scorpions count at these ages? These kids were good enough to displace other kids from those teams that had played with these big, special clubs their whole lives. Why didn't these big clubs train their kids better than Weymouth did? It sounds like Weymouth may have rained on your parade in the past.

Completely different person here. If we're thinking of the same person (which I'm sure we are). Then I think he still made the right decision, he is playing at a great academic school and he had a phenomenal year this past season, so I think things ended up working out for him in the end, even if you disagree with his decision.

Is he playing at the same school other Weymouth High teammates are playing at?

No, but he's still playing at a fine academic and athletic school.

He never should have given up his Senior HS year. He would still be playing for Tufts. They did not select him due to BOLTS. D3 soccer does not give scholarships.

Agree! Goal tending has not been the High Point on this Bolts team $$$$$$$$$$$
