    Boys U15's own thread.

Who are going to be the top team in the State and Region?

    Any predictions on League Standings?

Awesome. I just saw that. Knowing this age group, at this point I would put money on Commonwealth. I didn't even think Scorpions/Breakers could even field a team at this age.

That game won't go well for Braintree.

Saw on another thread that the FC Stars U15s defeated the Bolts 98 Pre-Academy team 3-1 the other day... so many questions?

Were the Stars really that good?
Were the Bolts really that bad?
If Academy clubs are not supposed to be playing HS soccer, what has this Bolts team been doing all Fall to put in this kind of performance?
Is the Bolts development "system" flawed?

The Bolts have played all fall doing well in the 98 PRE-DAP league. I believe they only lost 3 games. It is a suprising result which should be a loud signal to the DAP programs that if a younger NEP team can beat an older pre-academy team something is not working well. This could mean 1. Bolts/Revs are not doing to well in the ID process. 2. Talented players in MA are choosing to play high school. 3. Bolts had a bad day. Stars are scary good.

It could also mean, don't read too much into a Thursday night scrimmage. I have seen younger teams beat older teams countless times in meaningless scrimmages. The older team is playing only to save face and get in some practice, even give some if their less frequent players a shot at some playing time. The younger team are out to be giant slayers, are out to prove a point.

Is it a disappointing result, sure, is it the death knell of the Bolts DA Program, not so much.

The Bolts 98 pre-academy play in the U16 top flight of the MPS tournament this weekend. Prior to this scrimmage result I would have favored them to win all three games based on their very good fall season record. The U16 teams they will play against have had 3-4 practices at most and the Bolts have played tough teams all fal. They should easily win all three. Check back on Monday next week for a real understanding of how strong/weak the 98 pre-academy is. My guess is a lot stronger than the scrimmage result to Stars.

…..And they should be stronger. They have been practicing for what 2, 3 months, had numerous games against quality teams. All the more reason to shake your head at a U15 team that in all probability hasn’t played together, maybe had a handful of practices – tops, took a U16 pre academy team down in a scrimmage. Call it what you want, scrimmage friendly, practice game. The u16 team starting 11, second 11, whatever should have done better. I will go with a little of both of previous posts….. The Stars are probably better than people expect. The Bolts team is not as good as people expect.

The Bolts 98 pre-academy team is essentially their B-team, as the best 98s are on the U16 DAP team.

There are two or three 98's on the U16 DAP team. The rest are DP's

I don't know if it was the new talent or the injection of new ideas through their new coach but the Stars ripped the Bolts apart in the midfield and upfront. They had more style and precise passing than we've seen in the PreAcademy league. They had our boys heads spinning trying to keep up.

Congrats to the Stars on a top notch performance. I wish them te best of luck and hopefully this will be just the kick up the backside of our staff and players to get back on track.
