Breakers have definitely upset the apple cart!

The frenzied pursuit of everything Breakers related on this forum is indicative of the degree to which the arrival of the Breakers on the youth soccer scene has unsettled the rest of the big players.

Kudos to the Breakers for their forward thinking approach.

Hopefully this raises the collective bar for youth soccer in Massachusetts. Lord knows we need it.

Just a little detail: The exclusivity that scorps fanatics are associating Breakers with their club can't be good for their business. The last thing Breakers want is for Stars, NEFC, MPS, etc. kids and parents to boycott their professional games due to their association with scorps. Breakers are walking on a very thin ice here. Plus it is publicly known that Breakers are not swimming in $$$.

Come on, really? That is like expecting Bolts not to go to Revs games because the youth teams are their rivals (rather than because it is just not good soccer.)

Time to grow up. Would you seriously boycott a Breakers professional game because they are associated with the Scorpions? Do the Bolts players and families boycott Revolution games because they are a rival academy?

Is this really hard to believe? Given how seriously people take club soccer? Breakers do a lot of team and club hosting. There will certainly be some discussion around this. In essence you would be supporting your competitor.

Good Business - All breakers would have to do not to alienate parents, are free clinics, by the coaching staff and players and free tickets. Who amongst you will turn down free soccer.

Please. To refuse or deny going to Breakers games or clinics because they are involved with a rival club is childish indeed. Do people not go to the Revs because they have an academy?

Yes. This is ridiculous. Apples to watermelons.

You have to understand that these other folks and one in particular are in desperation, panic mode. They will say absolutely anything. They feel completely unburdened in regards to offering any type of truthfulness, and this is on top of their usual wildly distorted and self-important thought processes.

This is a business. The point of a business is to succeed and in this regard in order to succeed they must take current players from other clubs or at least try to. They must also recruit those who are not currently in the pool (u littles). This will in turn potentially hurt other clubs by reducing their numbers. They will also try to beat them on the field and rivalries will be created or enhanced. You then expect rivals to smile, fork over cash and support their competitor? Doubtful.

Unlike the Revs, the Breakers did not start their own program. They spent the money for a club with a rep. The rep is good and bad, depending on what side of the fence your on.

Could it hurt? I don't think so. What's the average attendance for a Breakers game? I think what hurts the Breakers is the location of the team; not the relationship with Scorpions. Foxboro is an easier drive the Somerville. Give me a choice, I'll choose the Revs because it is closer.

My kid plays for Stars. She likes watching some of the star players from the USWNT come and play locally against the Breakers. She'll go to some of the games. Her club affiliation is irrelevant, and her Stars coaches will encourage her to go.

She doesn't have any interest in joining a Breakers youth team, because her current team is very successful and she likes her teammates.

Your Community College-level business analysis is dopey, and not connected to reality. Don't try to overthink this. You'll just get a headache.

Oh, please. The club owners may be pi$$ed off that they lose a dollar or two, but that isn't going to affect attendance at Breakers games. After all, how is this any different then it has been all along? Only the names change. Now those that are currently recruiting may see their players recruited away. Big deal. It has become the nature of the business.

10 kids at $2,500 = $25,000. Not a dollar or two. Big dollars at stake here. Do the Math.
