    Where are they now?

I was looking at some college soccer websites.

At Northeastern I no longer saw Catie Whelan listed on the their roster. Anyone know if she transferred?

I did notice that MariaPicard is no longer at UCONN, but is now at Northeastern.

Both players were dominant talented players during their Mass Youth Soccer careers.

Any other notables that have moved on before completing their 4 years of playing eligibility?

When Whelan's class entered Northeastern, there was a lot of discussion on touchline of how such a large recruiting class was going to effect the existing roster. The comments were about upperclassmen losing roster spots and scholarships or entering freshmen siting on the bench. This year NU, like last year, has yet another large recruiting class. Are older players losing their funding or are entering players not getting as much?

Women's soccer announces initial recruiting class
          May 24, 2007
          Boston, MA

Head coach Ed Matz of the Northeastern University women’s soccer team has announced the team’s initial 2007 recruiting class. Matz and the Huskies will welcome nine college-ready players to Northeastern for the 2007 season, as eight freshmen and one transfer student come to Boston to add depth and versatility to last year’s 9-6-4 squad.

“I think this is one of the strongest recruiting classes that we’ve had at Northeastern,â€￾ Matz said. “Combined with a few international players that we will also be bringing in, this class gives us a very strong nucleus of new players. It will take a little time for the players to gel, but this class gives us the opportunity to get into the top four of the conference this year.â€￾

Kristen Blake (Canton, MA) played three seasons with Canton High School alongside, earning Hockomock League All-Star and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic honors in all three years. The forward accumulated 97 points in her career, and returned from a knee injury that sidelined her for her junior season to receive Eastern Massachusetts All-Star and All-State laurels as a senior.

Marissa Bodnar (Cincinnati, OH) comes to Northeastern from UNC Charlotte, where she played one season. The defender played in 18 games and made 13 starts for the 49ers. In high school, Bodnar earned All-State honors as a senior at Summit Country Day School, and was named Miami Valley Conference Player of the Year and an All-Southeast Ohio All-Star in her final season.

Lindse y Boisvert (Brewster, MA) played midfield and forward for Nauset Regional High School, and served as team co-captain in her senior season. A four-year varsity player, she earned Atlantic Coast South All-Star honors for the third consecutive year as a senior. Boisvert also has spent the last four seasons playing with the Cape Cod Lady Crusaders of the Super Y League, helping the team to a 2005 New England Division championship.

Brianna Brennan (Marlton, NJ) has been a four-year starter for Holy Cross High School, leading the team to a conference championship in her senior season. The defender has spent six seasons with the New Jersey Olympic Development Program, leading the team to a Region 1 championship in 2004 and a championship-game appearance in 2005. Brennan was also an All-Conference and All-County performer in both swimming and the javelin.

Logan Kirkpatrick (Westhampton, MA) spent four seasons in net for the Williston Northampton School varsity team. She left as the school’s record-holder for saves in a game and shutouts in a season, and her seventh shutout of 2006 came in the New England Prep School Class B championship game. Kirkpatrick was a New England Prep School All-League selection and also started for five years with the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program.

Kristen McDermott (Canton, MA) was a four-year varsity starter at Canton High School alongside fellow NU recruit Kristen Blake, captaining the team to a Hockomock League ti tle as a senior. She was a league All-Star in 2005, and was named the Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year in 2006. The defender, named the top female athlete of the Canton Class of 2007, was also a four-time team MVP and a two-time Hockomock League All-Star for the Canton track team.

Alexandra Skonieczny (Sarasota, FL) attended Cardinal Money High School for two and a half years before transferring to the Edison Academic Center, which is affiliated with the IMG Soccer Academy. The midfielder trained at IMG for five years, earning team MVP honors and the team’s Coaches’ Award while tying for the team lead in points in her last season.

Emily Tunney (Medfield, MA) played for Medfield High School, serving as team tri-captain in her senior season. The defender was a two-time Tri-Valley Conference All-Star, and was named to the Eastern Massachusetts All-Star team in her senior season, and scored three goals with 12 assists in her career. Tunney also played lacrosse at Medfield High, captaining the team in her senior year.

Emily Winkler (Merrimack, NH) played her high school soccer at Bishop Guertin, serving as co-captain in her senior season. A three-time All-Area and All-State honoree, she was the team’s second leading scorer and earned the program’s Coaches’ Award in 2006. Winkler was also named one of the top 10 players in New Hampshire by Varsity Magazine in 2006.

You need to add MariaPicard and those international students. That's a pretty big new class.

I think that you mean America East instead of Big East. Big East is UConn, Syracuse, etc and better than either CAA or America east.

Don't have time to compare now but might later

Probably a typo, but Maryland plays in the ACC. Maryland - Baltimore County is what I think you mean.

I heard from one of the coaches in America East, that Northeastern was coming back to that conference.

Being able to edit is a big benefit to registering.

Do players often transferr mid career? And, under NCAA rules do they lose a year, or is that just a MIAA thing?

Logan Kirkpatrick is also no longer on the NU roster though she was there earlier this summer. Any idea what happened to her? Something to do with her reoccurring knee injury?

None of those bios for the MA players said anything about MAPLE. Shouldn't they list MAPLE D1 as an important accomplishment. I also didn't see any big tournaments listed. I'm sure someone was on a team that won some "whatever the highest level was" championship at U17. Also, if high school soccer is so bad, why is it listed by everyone?

                              Fred, Sir Alex, Other Coaches...

For those of you coaches that have had players enter the college scene now for a few years how have you seen the attrition rate for your players?

                              Any not playing, any transfer?
