MIAA required that all high schools submit their 07-08 Institutional Registration Forms no later than July 20th. They have hilighted the 4 schools below that have not sent in their forms. How unfortunate would it be if that was you child's school. Anyone have any insight into any of these four schools? Did they cut the sports program or are they just that incompetent with paperwork?

North Cambridge Catholic HS - Cambridge
North Central Charter Essential - Fitchburg

I don't think the school in Fitchburg has an interscholastic athletic program, so maybe it's due to lack of necessity, and not incompetence. I seem to remember reading in the paper that they had a graduating class of a dozen or so.

SO is this merely a public shaming or are there actual consequences for these schools?

My understanding is that their sports teams will not be eligible to compete under MIAA guidelines. As I said before it is more likely due to non funding of the sports teams, but can't be sure. Figured someone on this forum might have some better insight.

I did find this posted on the Dracut High School website:

Swampscott is favored to take the NEC on the boys side

They are also considered strong on the girls side, although Peabody and Danvers are probably the favorites.

So are these schools eligible to field teams this year or not?

I cannot imagine that MIAA would deny sports to hundreds of kids because their school failed to submit a piece of paper.
