I know some stars teams are going to Seacoast they struck a deal with PDA from NJ that they would both send teams if each other did. Should be a good tournament with great facilities. Where are Scorps going?

Dual rostered players
Just a reminder for those clubs that still have multiple players that are dual rostered - something to be considered if you have not booked your team yet for Columbus Day.
This forum is sometimes so centered on the high profile teams, we forget that there are still many U-9 to U12 players with multiple commitments.
FROM THE MAPLE WEBSITE:
MULTIPLE ROSTERING
A Guide for Players Rostered on More than One Team
Commission Note: MAPLE recognizes that many of its players also play on a team in another of the state's leagues or on an ODP team. Indeed, we encourage this. We believe that for the committed premier player improvement and excellence is fostered by exposure to as much training and as many competitions and touches on the ball as his or her academic, family and other obligations will allow. To help players and their families to manage these commitments, the MYSA by-laws establish the following rule:
These priorities:
apply to all State Team players - regardless of age - rostered on any other team;
apply to all multiple-rostered players aged U14 and younger; but,
do not apply to non-State Teams players age U15 and above.
In general terms, a player's priorities are as follow:
Major Tournaments:
Regional ODP Tournament (after Memorial Day)
State Cup
MTOC and Qualifying Games
On major national holiday weekends:
Memorial Day - priority to Premier (MAPLE) Teams
Columbus Day - priority to Town Teams

But I do think we may have gotten through last fall without the "Rules or Guidelines" thread.Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

I hope you are pleasantly surprised by the responses.
Maybe some coaches and DOC's will reply
and state(for example) that their
U10 XYZ Premier Elite Bashers no longer allow dual rostering and it is no longer an issue.
We'll see.
Or we could hear again from Mr "They are only Guidelines".

[Warning - sarcasm and exaggeration follow]
Many feel that full potential can be decerned as soon as a child is weaned and so the building of the soccer resume with national rankings must start as soon as possible.
The annual horror of one out of 52 weekends being reserved to town soccer is looked upon as a significant impediment to this pursuit of greatness.
We have done a great job in development: The soccer talent has been distilled to two teams by U14, a total of 36 players. The rest are just to provide comic relief!
There should be no national rankings, regional rankings or even state rankings prior to U16. For U14 and younger treat these "ranked" tournaments for what they are: very expensive weekends away from home.

These appear to be two different subjects to me.
Rankings... They dont hurt anyone.
Travelling to tournaments... This is a neccesity on a number of levels. I dont think any serious soccer person would recommend highly developed and competitive teams enter local tournaments filled with average to good teams where the scores would be lopsided and the tournament experience ruined for many. It wouldnt be good for the advanced team and it wouldnt be good for the overmatched teams.

Ranking really doesn't hurt anyone and they are a great help matching teams together. Blow out games are bad for everybody. It's a waste of time and both team lose out. I've seen kids quit soccer after a run of losing games with blow out scores.
Travelling to tournaments is a big part of the fun kids have playing soccer. You need to look at it like mini family vacations. It's a nice break to play different teams and see different levels of play. They also provide playing time at different times of the year. Tournaments have become more important because the MAPLE season is so short and the levels are becoming so different that it is becoming hard to find enough teams of equal skill.
