    ODP - getting killed

So for the past season they had a handful of u12B & u13B players. CN & JC are killing this program. Anyone think it can be saved? Heard they are getting rid of the spring tryouts and will make players commit to the full winter and spring program, no more picking one or the other!

    Thought?

ODP is struggling, they are having problems drawing talent, keeping talent, and don't have a good method to judge talent. Too much politics. Nothing to offer players. You can get the same if not better training from the clubs. Some of the leadership is entrenched and does not know how to think outside of the box.

It's a real deliema for them and until they can offer something that the clubs can't, ODP will go be the way side.

Why do ODP if your on a DAP or PA? Competition is better, coaching is there and there's a national id program (id2) is place. How can ODP compete against that? It cant and wont.

With the Revs expansion into PA, there are now three clubs to try out for.

      Here is my two cents.....

ODP is available to whoever wants to do it, so basically anyone willing to pay the money to do it has a chance to do it. The decline over the past 5 years has been very dramatic, and will continue to do so until the following happens:

      - Make it a funded program by upping state registration fees for each club and each player slightly. If you were to up it a $10 dollars for every player that is from NH, this would cover the cost of every ODP team.
      - Make it like a National team where players are selected from coaches watching teams across the board. You select the best pool of talent at each age group and they come in as a pool and practice together.
      - From this each squad is selected for each event.

Due to ID2 camps, college showcases and other options available to clubs/players, ODP is no longer an important factor to being recruited for college.... so why pay the extra money?!

Make it a prestige program for the best players. Make it incentive based for players as it is funded and they have to work towards it by developing their ability in order to be selected. The amount of top players in the state across the board who chose not to pay, due to financial restrictions is eveident.

Could go on forever about NH Soccer and how it is poorly run across the board and so far behind the times.... but above is my opinion.

Like the idea of earning a spot, seems they same players are always picked. Funded by the state will make it attractive to a lot of players. Don't give automatic spots, you show and you can earn a spot.

Is it possible for the state to get involved in a league or do college show case tournaments at the older ages? This offers more than just a camp.

I think it is too soon to say if JC is hurting the program, need to give him another year and see if his ideas make a difference.

Really, JC is a moron. He is way over his head and let's Carla run everything! He has crushed the younger age groups and only the bottom kids are playing.

No reason to get ugly here. If you have something you want to comment on then do so. Why is JC over his head?

Seen the process over the past few years, too much influence from CN and not the coaches. NHSA is in love with their core and friends of the core and until this regime is out no change will take place. Way too many great players get overlooked.

He caves to parents and allows Carla to decide the rules. Ask around and find out how her kid is still playing! Ask around nd find out why he accepted all the u12's at tryouts and how many stayed. Ask around to find out how many u13's they had. Also ask why they are going to require full year commitments.

I disagree, good players are not overlooked, they just don't want to be involved.

Don't have to ask around, saw it first hand, if you know someone your in. Too much politics, thus a bad rep.

The commitment of winter training should be. Too many kids are dragged around all winter thinking they have a chance and don't because half the team never shows up, till the end at one open tryout. Don't get the reason to keep players around when your not going to pick them to begin with, other than to pad the pockets, thus a bad rep.

Wish you can elaborate on why they don't want to be involved.

As a parent of a new player hoping to tryout for the team in August, could you elaborate on the U12/U13 teams? How many players attended winter training and how many made the spring team? I've heard that in the past some players skipped the winter training and then attended the tryout in March for the actual team. Is this what most players do? I'm interested in the winter training but if these teams are preordained perhaps I should save my money????? I've also heard that they might be asking for a full committment but what exactly does that mean and why isn't that stated on their website? There is little to no information available to new families interested in the program. Any insight you could provide would be appreciated... Thx.

                            ODP NH 12-13's

NH odp is a joke! Do not waste your time. Find a good club and stick to it. Nh team this past season was worse than a lower level club team. Maine team beat them 5-0 in a game before the odp weekend!! None of the top players played on this team this past year. Anyone that tells you different is a liar. Seacoast Pre academy doesnt send their kids so that right there is a big number.

Did you read the threads above? The reasons for folks not wanting to play is explained. Director and Secretary are a joke. at the younger age groups they decided to "take everyone" so how "elite" is that? They had around 30 kids at the u12 and a bit less at u13 and only 8 or 9 in each decided to stay. not to hard to figure out
