    Status of SCP's girls side

In less than one year the SCP girls program has been almost completely decimated. SCP on the girls side at the 13,14,15,16,17 age groups will either be non-existent or will field a mediocre team that will only be able to compete in-state. The club somehow missed the boat on ECNL & now the NPL league and will be the only "BIG" club left on the girl’s side not competing in a top league in the region.

What a sad reality for a girls club who took home 2 State Championships last year and was competitive regionally at all age groups listed above.

    Recent Events:
-RK has gone to the dark side with SCP rising 12s and 15s. SCP will not field teams at U13 & U16 next year.
-Almost half of this year’s 13s have moved to other clubs after the departure of AD.
-The rising 14s & 16s teams have lost the few stars they had to CFC and will struggle again next year outside of CT. Both teams were middle of road teams in CT this year.
-MH's rising 17s will be strong again but unfortunately are on their way out as this is their last year at the club.

How did SCP's fall for grace on the girl’s side happen so quickly?

I think you mean rising 18's.

Fields & facilities in question, coaching uncertainty or conflicts, lack of leadership & direction (who runs SCP anyway) and overall clubs inability to compete at higher level on the girls side all attributed to their downfall.

RK leaving with the clubs 2 best girls teams is a dagger BD's heart. Without RK and without Choate fields, where is SCP going to train their girls teams? Does any SCP parents have a clue?

As bad as it may be for SCP (and I note that RKs departure with two teams has yet to be confirmed), the girls club that is disintegrating the fastest is Beachside.

Beachside girls program gets thrown under the bus and sounds like it will soon be gone. SCP is on the way down fast. Soccerplus is underwhelming as Ct's second ECNL club. Looks like it's boiling down to three top girls clubs, CFC, FSA and Oakwood. Yankee maybe. Any others?

How could SCP let their 2 best teams and best coach leave? Both teams head and shoulders above the rest in the club? Would not be surprised if they call it quits on the girls side. Only problem is they lose the cash cow funding the academy. My guess is this is the whole reason for the move.

STRONG...they cannot field a U17 team and are combining for a U17/U18 team! They also lost some coaches and players to the new and ever expanding CFC that will have teams out of the Tolland area!

                      SCP Problems

                      Problems...
                      1. No clear leadership
                      2. No fields
                      3. No indoor facilities
                      4. Non-competitive wages for coaches
                      5. Poor communication
                      6. Vision...what's the 3 yr/5yr/7yr plan?
                      7. Academy is not working: Just because you say you're an academy program doesn't mean you're getting the best kids. In fact, boys are staying away because they're really struggling getting it off the ground and the fact they can't play high school anymore. Let's face it, Academy is for that 1% that make it to the National or Professional level. So 99% are there to help that 1% succeed? They'll probably lose their academy status in a couple years anyway. Check out how their pre-academy teams did this year...

                      8. Girls? Just read the posts about the 2 girls teams moving to CFC. Enough said.

                          SCP Problems...continued

oh...and AD needs to step down as Prez. Make her Prez-Emeritus...whatever...just move her out of any decision making positions. She's nothing more than a secretary with a title...and she can't do that well.

BQ comes off as an elitist snob. why? who is he?

                          bottom-line...the club really needs a house-cleaning!!!

one of the things they do well is develop young players. but what good is that if they all bail to other clubs?

instead of always making excuses, the club needs to take a long hard look at how they run business. stop blaming coaches, parents and other competing clubs. they need to put a mechanism in place to retain their own players...period. it's inexcusable to lose 2 cup-winning teams to CFC. it's inexcusable when your boys teams can't get enough bodies at tryouts to field "premier-level" teams, let alone pre-academy/academy. it's inexcusable to cancel training sessions because they didn't finalize (maybe forgot...) the Yale field contract...then have to move training to swampy mess next to the tennis center. the people paying the bills are tired of the excuses and if this spring doesn't serve as a wake-up call, then you deserve what you get..

stop making excuses SCP and start making significant changes or the gap between you and the other elite clubs will widen. there's still time.

Agree with everything you said these are the issue with SCP. Not sure I agree that there is still time as the facility issue has not been solved to my knowledge.

What about AC as the girls coaching director? Looks like he is doing a quality job.
