Parent of a U16 player wondering how does the recruiting process work... would love to hear any advice or insight to this process. when do you start sending letters to college coaches i heard there freshman year

You need to get in touch with any schools you are interested in, the player, not the parent. Make up a profile to send with your contact.
If possible go to summer camp at any of those schools so they can see them firsthand. Notify them of any tournaments you will be playing in along with the schedule of your games. Do many tryouts at many schools, and unless you get a full ride, which is about 1% of players, save up money.
We are getting ready for our first season of college soccer and it's getting more expensive by the minute!
