Congratulations to NEFC for sweeping all competitive divisions at Seacoast Columbus Day tournament. Also up north asserting their dominance in Nashua. Great job girls and guys.

There were two state champions in the u13 division. There was plenty of competition. Don't diminish the accomplishment out petty jealousy.

This is more about supporting the clubs in NEP than anything else. Why go to a tournament that ultimately supports an adversary? Also the playing conditions where a heck of a lot better than they have been at CFC's tournament the last couple of years.

This post was either started by someone looking to celebrate NEFC since SS Select has their own thread, or more likely by someone who saw the announcement on the front page of the NEFC website and wanted to make NEFC parents look as bad as SS Select parents.
Either way, I will support NEFC's right to celebrate any accomplishments on their home page. The job of any club is to put this kind of stuff on the forefront for their membership. It doesn't mean the club or teams are placing too high a value on these wins. All it is is a family pat on the back. A little positive feeling around the club. What's wrong with that?
There were three tournaments of any substance in New England this weekend:
Nashua (biggest) - a lot of NEFC teams of all levels, Bolts teams, Nashua World Cup who can be good in age groups, Classics who also have some decent teams. Tournament is very big, fields are all over the place and most aren't any good. Tournament organization is only okay. Notable teams that attended:
NEFC South 12 and 13 Girls
NEFC North 11 Girls
Greater Boston Bolts 12 Boys
Seacoast (smallest) - some NEFC teams, some Stars teams, Seacoast teams who are usually well coached, and some other good teams. Tournament played at a great facility, but very small tournament. Not as old as Nashua, but haven't grown at all since starting. Notable teams that attended:
Stars 12 JD, played up
NEFC 14 Elite Girls
Vikings 14 Boys
CFC - Scorpions full support (it seems), CFC, and some other good teams. Youngest of the three events, they have the strongest host club, but not all of their best teams even played. Fields are poor and spread out. Notable teams that attended:
Scorpions 14 ECNL
SS Select 11 Girls
Scorpions 11 Girls
In the end there is no great option for teams. The good teams are looking to play teams they don't play all the time. They spread out and attended a bunch of different tournaments and some took the weekend off.
To anyone that won, good job.

NEFC has no need to hide from their accomplishments this weekend. They didn't exactly test themselves but have very little to prove. I would think the desire to join ecnl would have had them patronize one of their tournaments. Perhaps it was more important to look to bolster attendance at the next NEFC tourney by going to Nashua and Seacoast

As far as the whole tournament thing goes. Discovery was just OK. Yes it had some better teams than any of the other Columbus Day tournaments but Newss or CASL are really much better tournaments so unless a team planned to do two major travel tournaments in the fall, staying local made the most amount of sense.

Makes perfect sense actually. All you really need to do is get another reasonably strong club from Mass or Conn to also start supporting the Seacoast Tournament and you'll have a pretty good little tournament.
