Taking nothing away from the players, but pretty awful defending and goalkeeping by DC United. I also think that the Rev players need to tone down the hotdogging after scoring. Act like you've done it before..

Funny don't see town teams and players acting like that and they're having fun too

Cripes! You know how few goals are scored in a season?! Goals should be celebrated. For the players' enjoyment and for the fans' delight. The celebrations on this video are not obnoxious or over the top in any way. These guys know the camera's on, and they give the camera something for the highlight reel. The rest of the world does it this way. Why can't these local kids join in the universal joy of the game?

Just watched the video for the first time and I think all of their celebrations were pretty tame. Am I missing something?

I completely agree. The only ones objecting are those whose kids are unable to play at that level. Give me a break.

If they are playing for the pro Academy teams shouldn't they demonstrate that they know how to celebrate like a pro?

Agreed, it's nice seeing kids having fun at this level. You could tell they were relaxed and enjoying the game. Question: does anyone know if that was DCs starting keeper?

Have you even seen a pro celebrate?? They run around going crazy even after a simple penalty..these were pretty tame celebrations.

Goals should be celebrated...these were all very, very tame and not disrespectful...celebrate with your teammates because they played a part in the goal and enjoy the moment...on the other hand the first video of the U16's is pretty comical and a young man makes a fool of himself in his celebration...there's all of 20 - 30 people watching these games at Gillette and the young man poses and flexes to the "standing room only" crowd like he just scored at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup final...that was obnoxious.

He is just a kid having fun. And you would indeed be a fool looking for an FA Cup final at Stamford Bridge. They're played at Wembley mister poopyhead.

Yes, there are 50 or so people actually on site, but you are all forgetting that all of you on this forum and other forums have now watched the video and all these kids' Facebook friends have seen it and anyone who logs on to the NE Revolution's website has seen it and so on. There actually is a fanbase in this age of social media, etc.

And true soccer fans know goals should be celebrated.

There's also this: You never know when you're going to score your last goal or play your last game. Live in the now, kids. Relish the moment.

maybe some day you'll experience a happy moment. if/when you do, celebrate it, 'cuz from the sound of it, it doesn't happen often and maybe never has.

Like that is a bad thing?

Only 19 Massachusetts players made D1 rosters last year. Of those, only 25% showed any meaningful playing time. It's looking like there will be even less D1 players in 2011. No need to slam the kids for their college of choice. SNHU was ranked near the top in the nation for most of last season and the players are quite skilled. Let them play because college goes by fast...jogo bonito

Jeez I do not see that the DAP program is celebrating the fact of their players at SNHU, Maybe next year...

The biggest issue with SNHU is the roster size. A lot of very good players going there, and you have to wonder if many of them are going to be happy since a good portion are not going to see the field.

Anyone who goes to college to play soccer is an idiot.

I saw St. A's play SNHU and was surprised at a lot of good players(resume wise)going there. My friend whose kid was on St. A's said their admissions policy was a little more liberal than most of the other schools in the league. A kid from UConn transferred there was a globe player of the year (I saw him play in HS and he was very good). Coach I think was an assistant at a Div 1 school. I was under the impression from some of the conversations, that there was a high turnover rate after first semster grades.

that there was a high turnover rate after first semster grades.

Do you mean players did not return due to grades? At SNHU?? Are you kidding me?

That will be true at any college program. The adjustment to living away from home is huge. School, parties, drinking, studying, making the "right" decisions, etc. are all part of the maturing process. I know of one Div. 1 program that brought in several foreigners as freshmen. One flunked out because he really hadn't studied in the years leading up to college and was more interested in drinking. He is back in England playing low level football. Another was not invited back because of some videotaped risque behavior involving some of the coeds. There are plenty more similar stories to these at each campus regardless of division. Watch the turnover from year to year and you have to ask yourself the question , " Why isn't that player on the roster this year?"

To play college soccer, you truly have to be a STUDENT-athlete. Unfortuantely, in many of our high schools, the star player or coach can sweet talk their teacher into giving them a passing grade. It's finding the right fit: Juco, D3, D2 or D1. A player has to to find the right course work and have the ability to play soccer at that level.
