Lets have a none biased club discussion about coaching certifications(after all better coaches develop better players). We have some pretty succesfully and highly thought of coaches in our state so it would be interesting for them to give us their personal insight into the different coaching certifications. I see some coaches have both, some have either or. So whats the difference in content, coaching styles and which one they thought they got the most from.
USSF are still accepted by many as more important for your resume. Having been thru the entire list of both the NSCAA are better run and far more user friendly. The coaching staff become part of their group, eating and even drinking with candidates. The USSF Staff are instructed to keep you at arms length.
USSF judges you "on your playing ability" during the course . NSCAA does not and sticks to your coaching knowledge.
USSf also has the reputation that they do not fail you (atleast thru the C level) if you have any "pro playing" experience or are affiliated somehow with a certain club or team

The playing requirement for USAA licenses no longer exists. However, that being said you must be fit enough to still be standing at the end of an 8 hour day - with much of the time being spent being a "pawn" in drills. I did my D at age 43 over two weekends where the temperature was between 90 and 100. I am in good shape and could barely move by Monday morning. That being said the idea that a former pro has a leg up isn't really accurate. You gotta know your book material too.
