I've logged in, but for some reason my last 2 posts were under "Guest".

Then I used a word that apparently is a no-no. It was ti-tle. And it dumped my entire post.

And I keep getting Private Messge notifications when there is none.

Happened to me too. You cannot use the shorthand version of Hello either. Got phantom PM. Gremlins, I say.......... or Mr. Stats has learned to crack code.

I will let the admin know about these issues

"Phy sician" is another word on the no-no list.

Some words common to SPAMers are blocked in many forums. Each phpBB has control of their own list of words to sub.

The last post is correct - there are blocked words to prevent spammers and obscene language, and also some words that have a substitute word all ready to roll if they are submitted.

If you hit the back button on your browser there is somtimes a chance to recover the post as it was before submission. I tested it on a post with phys-ician without the dash several times and it worked to recover my post all 3 times on an IE 7 browser

As a practical matter if you spend a lot of time on a post, it is probably a good idea to copy your words before submission.

Hope this helps

I apologize for the inconvenience, but this board is built on the PHPBB format which is open source code (both for programmers and spammers). Since this is the most popular board install on the net, it's consistently getting spammed by spambots and individuals. I have built some heavy duty spam filter programs on this board to try and catch all the most common stuff. It catches about 95% of the stuff that gets posted, but it also catches legit posts that use parts of keywords. If you have a post that you spent time on and don't want to re-type, then let me know. My spam filter stores all the posts that violate the spam rules, so I can continue to train the filter. Because of this, I can restore your posts if it's intercepted.

Just as sundance said, you can use your back button and you may still have the text available. But, if it's a long post, copy it to Word or some other text program before you submit.

I did make one minor adjustment which should help most of the MA people out. If you have a registered user account, you should now be able to bypass the spam filter if you are posting from that user account. If you post as a guest/anonymous, it will still go through the filter first.

If you have any problems, let me know.

Thanks,
Admin

Does anyone have a problem downloading their posts? It takes forever when I do it.

Now we can start lacing our kind and gentle posts with colorful metaphors :D

(just being sarcastic - thanks for all you Admins/Moderators do)

Maybe you are receiving extra-screening. Extra filtering. Have you done something suspicious? Have you been naughty?

No I haven't, but a recent post of mine concerning a certain individual seems to have disappeared from this forum and there was nothing in that post that the forum administrators would have had any reason to delete. Should I assume perhaps someone has presented themselves to the administrator as a forum moderator and deleted the post.

Is this something that possibly a software engineer might be able to do, hack into a system to delete posts? Or should I assume perhaps someone has presented themselves to the administrator as a forum moderator and deleted the post.

It may have a been a problem with the database, post it again and watch.

Maybe Mr. Stats can't post due to his verbiosity and the filters cannot handle his verbal priapism.

It happens to me all the time... when signed in my posts often appear as 'Guest'. Phantom Private messages. Very slow uptake on the posts...

Not complaining..little deal... good forum.

Weird how so many prefer to be known only as Guest though...

Funny you should say that, I was wondering if the elders know who Sundance, Soccer Fan, or ImOvrIt are? Seems like a good job for a former "active poster."

I can vouch for Soccer Fan. He was one the unfortunates that didn't get a reply when he tried to register on the former board. Plus he's a hell of a photographer.
