Looks like they are in a good position to finish top 2 at U16.

They are, but they must win on Saturday agianst the Gaels. A loss and they are out. A tie leaves them with 13 points and the Gaels with two left to play. First tie breaker is wins , second is GA. Anybody know the scores from Kirkwood on Saturday. Despite the bad loss to Albertson in the first weekend, it would not surprise to see Montclair make a little run at the play-offs. Still can't figure out why Albertson was placed in the South. It certainly helped them as the North is the much tougher divsion with 5 excellent teams. Syosset is in a real struggle to get a top 4 finish and an automatic invite back next year.

You answered your own question - It certainly helped them as the North is the much tougher divsion. The entire age group was grouped and scheduled to benefit PDA and Albertson. That was obvious as soon as I saw Albertson in the south and PDA in the north.

Montclair seems in a downward spiral. Anyone know the story there?

I thought putting Albertson in the south was to help assure they'd be back next year. It would have been harder to do in the north. I don't think anyone expected they'd potentially finish in the top 2. Nor Syosset to be sitting in the bottom 2 in the north at this point.

Albertson entered the season, in some people's minds, as the favorites. They are Red Bull team that added quality. Their 4-0 win over Montclair sent some tremors through R1 and ENY. They have since fallen to earth but they no doubt are benefitting from a pretty weak southern division. The game against the Gaels is for the marbles as it will give them the advantage on the head to head tie breaker. They are at home on Saturday and that is a big advantage as the Gaels have a 3+ hour trip up to LI. Frederick is a good side but they are not consistently at the level of the top 4 teams in the North. Gaels are a physical side who have trouble if their trap breaks down. I give Albertson the advantage and expect them to punch a ticket to Delaware - just like the folks in R1 wanted.

If I recall, this team didn't fair well in the RBL last year. Some heavy recruiting by Riley has made a difference.

They haven't done that great this year. But the increased competition would put them ahead of most of the Premier South teams that have not played anything outside of R1.
