U17 Crusaders and Pioneers also not in. What are the options now for these teams?

The tournament selection committee does not look favorably on Massacusetts soccer.

Kind of foolish of the selection committee to accept the younger MPS team and not the 17's. MPS is now the largest club in Mass and in many ways actually carries more clout than the vaunted stars. MPS could be sending teams to PDA's tournaments for years. Look for this one to resolve itself.

Not sure why you decided to compare MPS 17s to Stars as you basically lose on all fronts there.

First of all there's no reason to think Stars will not be sending teams to PDA's tournaments for years just as MPS could - AND PDA sends teams to Stars tournament. Secondly as part of the Red Bull league the Stars' clout is bigger since the league brings with it many teams - yes even more teams than MPS has. PDA is also a member of that league so if you think they're going to accept MPS over any of those teams you've got another thing coming. And of course the choice is between the Stars U17 team and the MPS U17 team. Between these two the "vaunted" Stars has a better record.

MPS can get into events growing out of their league - Super Y - and isn't MPS involved in the Needham college showcase? Maybe that would be the way for the situation to resolve itself.

It is repeated said that MPS is the largest club in Massachusetts. Exactly how many teams do they have? At the upper levels on the girls side they have two teams per age group listed (Crusaders and Renegades). Are there more than this?

Tournaments like PDA are looking for quality not quantity. By all accounts the MPS 15s are good so it's not a surprise they were accepted. The 17s are decent but nowhere near a lock for a tournament like PDA that only has one flight after Red Bull. MPS teams should support Needham anyway as they are now involved with that one. Stars and Scorpions best teams support their own tournaments and it brings in other quality clubs.

Understand that there are 32 teams in the Red Bull League. These teams are all guaranteed acceptance to a League tournament like PDA. All but two RB teams looked to go to the tournament. The difference is that Las Vegas accepted an additional 40 U17 teams along with the 32 RB squads. PDA only accepted 10 teams that are not part of the RB. One of those teams is Seacoast, there are also two Canandian teams and some solid teams from Virginia and Penn East. When looking at acceptances people need to remember that the Renegades team ended up as a SC semi-finalist last year. That doesn't get you very far when it comes to your application. Renegades also have a poor ranking with Gotsoccer. They have a scant 750 points and are ranked 4th in MA and 53rd in R1. Compare that to Seacoast (3300 pts, 1st in NH and 20th in R1) or the Bucks from E PA who are 3rd in PA E and 13th in R1 and hold 3500 points. People want to minimize the importance of Got soccer but they are a big tool used in determining tournament acceptances and seeding. The idea that PDA doesn't "favor" Massachusetts teams is foolish. The same pressures for acceptance is in place with the 15 and 16 groups. Yet the Renegades and Scorpions 15 YOs and Scorps and Rovers 16 YOs were accepted despite not being in the RB. That means that Mass teams represented about 20% of the non-RB teams accepted at those ages. Why? Because they deserved it. There will be over 300 college coaches representing about 200 programs at PDA this year. Most will be from eastern D1 schools although you should see plenty of Big 10 and Big 12 programs in attendance. It is a very rare chance to see teams from outside of R1 in the Northeast. Good luck to all the teams attending.

The Pro MPS post either had to be from a parent who had swallowed the MPS line hook line and sinker without thinking about it or it was a troll. It was just too clueless to be quite as full of MPS as it sounded. Luckily the responses have been respectful and have not dipped to the normal MPS bash. Probably time to move on since the poster has disappeared.

Probably the most stupid post I have ever read. Just because they are now the states largest club you carry more clout. Wow what a joke, half of the teams are town teams with an MPS name attached to them. Keep drinking that koolaid buddy clubs like Scorps, Stars, Bolts still have much more clout out of this state.

Another stupid idiotic statement from an MPS bashing troll. I don't really care about 'clout' outside of this state, but don't go around claiming MPS is half town teams with the MPS name attached to it. Face it - you really don't know. You do not know the facts. Do some homework first and don't base it on an opinion you formed six years ago.

Hit a nerve did we? If MPS poster's did not keep coming on this forum and bragging how good and BIG the club is then they would not get bashed by us trolls

If they (MPS) didn't post here. They would go unnoticed.

More stupid troll comments. If you want to attack MPS with stupid comments, then expect a response. Plain and simple.
