It is unfortunate. Defenders are never recognized enough. They work as hard as the rest of the team. But there is no good way to measure the strength of a good defender. In front of very good keeper is a strong defense!

Could this be an error and really be the all state team?

Here is the link to the full list - plenty of other states represented -

As an FYI - Kailey Blain from NH plays defense for Stars, but she plays forward on high school according to this list.

There are a few kids that I would have expected on hte list. Wagner from AB and Sisk from LS. Wagner probably didn't make it because there were 2 AB kids included already. Sisk because, politically, her mom (know as on3 on this forum) is her high school coach and it wouldn't look good. Same thing has happened to her at regional odp. She is definitely penalized.

Kate is a great player, but her non return appointment to regional ODP is not political. It may be stupid, it may be shortsighted, but no one is overlooking her at regional ODP because of her mother. Why would anyone say this if not to make her mother feel bad?

As for All New England - maybe her mother is a factor - but she had a much better year this year than last (and last year wasn't bad) so hopefully next year will be hers.

I think they were trying to make her mom feel good. Kate single handily took LS far this year (with some help from their superb goalie). She was the leading scorer in the DCL which had at least 4 players make all new england. How canthat not be seen as political. She is far better than many of the girls selected. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lexington coach is still annoyed at being called out during the playoff game for bad sportmanship by on3.

How on earth does On3 being a high school coach have a political impact on regional ODP selections? It is a wrong to imply her daughter wasn't selected because of who her mother is.

I'm from Lexington and saw the playoff game. She's good but her lack of selection was not political. Give her mom a break. I'm sure she stays out of decisions that affect her daughter. A good coach can be objective even when coaching one's child.
