Region 1 Premier League

The R1PL brackets are out!! http://h...eam.htm

Can someone comment on whether (U16 girls brackets) the Stars and Scorpions are in different divisions (north/south), based on how they are listed?

these are not the divisions, only the teams accepted

Unless there has been a change in policy you can expect all the Massachusetts, other NE and ENY teams to be in the same group. If that gives you 8 teams, then the rest are in the south. WNY and NJ are the usual cut-off lines and can be in the North or South. WNY is usually in the north over a team from Jersey, but not always.

Surprising to see only one Bolts boys team.

Why? With the DAP the landscape on the Boys side is changing - some of the strong boy's clubs show up in the U14's and maybe U15's, and then they disappear because their teams are in the DAP. Maple will change too - with the Revs and the Bolts DAP teams out the landscape will change over the next few years.

No MPS teams? I heard it suggested they were part of some "big 3" on another thread. I guess it is really is a 'big 2"...and a few strays!

Does anyone know when the SUB Region 1 comes out?

Re: Region 1 Premier League

I agree that the DAP, residency academy and MPS support clubs have changed the landscape on the boys side. The Premier League may not be irrelevent, but it is far less important a venue as with the girls. Not surprisingly, Massachusetts is tied for third in girls team placements behind NJ and ENY.
NJ 16
ENY 14
MASS 10
EPA 10
VIR 6
MAR 6
CT 6
NYW 5
WPA 3
NH 2
DEL 1

Its also not surprising that the Stars have more girls teams accepted than any other club.
Stars 6
PDA (NJ) 5
Albertson (ENY) 5
Empire United (NYW) 4
Scorpions 3

The big difference between MA and the other top states (NJ, EPA, ENY, VIR, MAR, CT) is the close relationship between our state success and the success of two particular clubs. PDA and Albertson may help the NJ and ENY numbers, but not to the extent that the Stars and Scorps dominate Massachusetts.

What happened to the Bolts u15s? They had an automatic bid. Did they lose too many players?

Where would the players go unless they are playing up in one of the DAP programs.

FCGB website says that the U15 boys have a new coach and a "few" openings.

As Regional semi-finalists, last year's Boston Blast U15's also earned an automatic bid to the R1PL. Yet they were not part of the league. So just because you earn a spot does not mean you actually accept, whether it be for competitive reasons, or the coaches/parents didn't want to also play on Saturdays, or travel, or whatever.
