Westford 2010 star: BC
LS 2010 (On3 daughter) star: Harvard
Stars have become quite the feeder club to Harvard. At least 2 from this year's 2009 (Westford goalie and Nobles striker) and now On3's daughter in 2010.
This is good stuff. How does this happen, when schools can't call prospects until 7/1 after their Jr year? Just curious.
The connections are made a number of ways. Most typically it starts with a call from a college coach to a club coach about a player they have seen or by an email from the player to the college coach expressing interest and asking the coach to come watch a game. Either way the coach usually has to see the player on the field one or more times before a an unofficial visit is organized.
All direct communications with the college through 8/31 of the junior year have to be initiated by the player or family. No phone calls or emails can come directly from the coach (except one email saying they can't return calls or emails or camp invitations). There can be no face to face conversations off campus. Players arrange visits to schools where there is mutual interest, matches are made.
September 1st of junior year schools may email or write candidates directly and that makes arranging visits easier. July ist after Junior year the phone calls from coaches can start although a lot of the top soccer Div. 1 programs will have completed most of their recruiting by then
The player from Westford hasn't commited to BC, its one of the many offers thats on her table. Onthree daughter "has not" commited the Harvard. When they make their choices then "you" will know.
Did the Westford 2010 Star commit to BC? Or is that misinformation as well? If so, Stars parents from younger teams are spreading misinformation.
It was a pleasant change to see positive reactions to good news posted on this forum. The younger Stars' parents probably thought these were facts they spread and the original poster seemed well-intentioned too.
Many of us look forward to hearing the exciting news as the MA 2009's and 2010's explore their options and make their choices over the next year. It looks like a strong few years, especially on the girls' side.
