Joseph departure puts Revs in a jam

Shalrie Joseph, an invaluable player for the New England Revolution since 2003, has left the club indefinitely for what Michael Burns, vice president of player personnel, says is "a completely personal matter, non soccer-related. He asked for some time on a personal matter and it was granted, and it would be speculation to say how long he will be gone.’’

Is this another Joey Franchino personal leave of absence? Is Shalrie going to be found asleep in his car in some parking lot?

Apparently he has a substance abuse problem. Too bad.

At least he's on the right path, rather than the wrong one. Good for him to acknowledge his issue(s).

He is truly a nice person. I have witnessed him staying for an hour after a training session to sign autographs and take pictures for every single kid.

              Good luck to SJ

Same here. SJ is very nice to kids.

Agreed - really nice guy, great with kids. But it might hurt the side business anyway

If he chose to go on his own, then he has a chance. If he was forced to go, the odds are not good. I wish him strength and courage. It is not an easy road ahead.

Shalrie is back.....not that it made a difference to the Revs.

Win or lose for Shalri's first game back, the team looked better. I do wonder, though, if they are starting to miss Larentowicz (? spelling)

Absolutely! Their midfield has been very ineffective so far and Phelan has been one of the worst!

The team has very little experience so they need SJ back if they hope to stop the slide.
