Not my team, but good for a laugh. Are they D1 or not???
Let's see: Opening week, someone will win and the other team will lose. Do we have any game reports? Was the "winning" goal scored on a questionable PK? I would wait to boast FH parents, you still need to play SFV, NEFC-T, CU.
That's right, U17 Fuller Hamlets boys beat the "unbeatable, sure to win an SC" NEFC team.
The country bumpkins just beat the largest club in MA. Hmmm...
Anyone who knows this age group, would also know that Fuller was a good squad during the u13-15 years. They lost a player or 2 to DAP and fell to D2. Congrats on climbing back to D1 and winning their first match. I don't recall any postings here talking about the "country bumkins". If this is truely a Hamlet parent, then they are not doing the squad any favors by posting this kind of thing. Everyone knows that at U17 (and U18) MAPLE records mean nothing. It's all about SC and attending tournaments. Looking at GS, this team has not played in any kind of showcase tournaments. why?

Another problem with soccer in the US. THIS is when it should mean something.
Why is a state based league record important at this age? If you think it is, you should be able to give a few reason why. thanks
This is when developing the mental side of the game comes into play and developing the will to win is at issue about the time a player reaches age 16. About the last thing a coach wants at this age is a team of players that feel the game doesn't matter. Every game matters from this perspective.

yes the games matter. But to focus on the MAPLE record does not.

It still matters. A team sets a goal. Maybe it's to finish at the top of the division, or the top half of the division, or to win more games then last year or to stay out of relegation, whatever. With only 7 games to play every game matters to achieve that goal, whatever it may be. At U17, these kids have to start seeing the bigger picture.
It's just amazing how parents confuse the various age priorities of a team.
