Good for Maple, good for soccer in Massachusetts, good for the players!

Also benefits MassYouthSoccer & NSCAA as they will now have full classes for their licensing.

License just means some study time. This is the kind of thing make the US national team looks like they are trained by nerds.

Not at all. Other countries require licensing, and encourage life-long learning. Good on 'em.

How is the DOC requirement going to be enforced? How many clubs actually have a DOC? If a DOC doesn't have a C license, can't you just rename the position of DOC and call it Technical Director? Rule seems a waste of ink. Good about the coaching requirements though

This is a good first step. If you make the license level too high, too early, it will be very difficult to get everyone licensed. The requirement makes sure everyone has some training. It can't assure anyone of having a good coach. There are great older coaches that never went through a course and "A" licensed coaches that aren't so good.

Speaking of coaches and licensing, heard the Canton job was filled.

The bar can't be set higher until more D classes are offered and C's are scheduled locally. Typically the closest C's are in PA, NJ, MD. How many people raising families can afford the time (and cost) of being away from your family for 8 days? The C license class needs to be refocused away from granting licenses based on playing skills to being granted for COACHING skills. The two are frequently entirely unrelated. Other sports recognize that but for some reason soccer keeps pounding the square peg. This is why the Gretzky's, Pele's, Montana's of the world don't coach. The best coaches are the middling players for whom the game did not come easy. They were either coached up or coached themselves up.

Ever try to get into a D class sponsored by certain clubs or towns? When I took my D I had to wait nearly 6 months to find a class sponsored by MYSA. In the middle of August. Ever spend 6 hours outside in 90+ degree heat two days in a row?

This is a first step. Gotta walk before you can run.

                        Happy Easter.

I hear the NSCAA are biased more to coaching skills. Can anyone confirm that?

Would like to attend one, but again the higher level NSCAA are far away.

is a club required to have a DOC? it will be a big pain for an older DOC.

NSCAA will not make you play if for some reason you can not. Higher level USSF expect you to be able to pay and will not pass you unless you can.
