Alright...any scores from todays games? (or at least a good fat man throwing footballs story from Western Parents?)
Scorps over GB 2-1
Scorps seem to have slipped a bit, they don't have the same type of team as last year it seems.
Saying that, as much as the game was a little bit competitive in midfield, Bolts only shot on goal was a direct kick when Scorps were disorganized after the kickoff after they scored! Really bizarre. Can't Score-pions had a lot of trouble near the opponents goal, comedy of errors as they tripped on breakaways or hit them sky high over the goal.
will be interested to see Scorps v BW or some of the other new teams that are obviously stronger than Bolts.

I'm pretty sure that was an illegal kickoff, ref wasn't even ready yet! No whistle or acknowledgement to start, there were even subs waiting to come in. It was illegal when the Scrops did it too. Ref was clueless!
Explosion over Pumer 1-0
This score certainly has me scratching my head...I know that Puma packs the box, but still on 1 on Puma...Explosion is projected much better than this. Hopefully just a poor game from their strikers.

Sounds like they just couldn't finish, is it because their starting striker is out (the one that got injured at Stars Cup)?
They seem like they have the game, just not the finishers. Seems like a problem for this age group overall.

I don't think I would go that far. Scorps pressured FH most of the game until the last 15 mins of the 2nd half, when Scorps showed signs of fatigue. FH scored on a free kick rebound. Scorps had many opportunities to put it away. Just couldn't find the net. Scorps were clerely a more skilled team. For FH... better lucky than good.

I know nothing of this Explosion team, but how is this different than the 6-0 thrashing your team received from Stars first week? MAPLE counts 6 goals in the differential - why wouldn't the coaches of three teams currently tied for first try to maximize the GD? What do you mean by etiquette? Were they dancing after every goal? Am I missing something?

When goal differentials make an impact on the end of season outcome it is important to get as many goals as possible. Are you saying that your coach would tell his team to stop scoring if you were up by 6 or so? I don't think so. By winning 8-0 explosion has widend the gap betwenn them selves and other teams in division one. This is division one after all and not park and rec, this has to be a western parent trying to bring attention to someone else to take the attention off the fact that they were beaten by the Scorps this weekend. This is Western parents signature behavior. You didn't see the bashing of other teams last weekend. Why? Beacuse Western won thier game. This will continue through the entire season.

Whats the difference in a 8-2 score line and a 6-0 score line? why aren't you bashing BW(sorry but nothing bad can be said about Maple's champ in waiting) or Stars(Do you really think Cosgrove stopped his team from scoring?). It seems that Bolts are in a really tough spot and it could be all over for them by the time the schedule lightens up, but with Granite having 2 wins already it looks like its going to be Bolts/Puma/Fuller going down to D2. The scores prove that this really is a weak age group you don't see any other d1 age groups putting multiple goals pasts teams. Are the top 3 really that strong?

This is completely false.
The Explosion girls played hard and fairly. There was absolutely no cheap shots. The Explosion are a well coached, athletic and skilled team. The Bolts were actually up 1-0 in the first 10 minutes and the half time score was only 2-1 Explosion. This was a close match for almost 2/3rds of the game. The final score did not represent any attempt by the Explosion team to be unsportsmanlike.

Please define proper soccer etiquette. I agree with other posters with regards to the GD. They hit the magic number of 6 as defined by Maple rules. I don't remember seeing any complaints when BW beat FCGB by 6-0 in week one. Did they display poor soccer etiquette? Stop whining. Maybe FCGB is out of thier league and s/b relegated to D2 now rather then suffer any further embarressment. Swap them out with Pioneers. I mean 16 goals in three games??? Geeez.

Its called focus. Teams get up for games against the perceived "better" teams, but when it comes to others they lose focus. A little like Tyson v. Douglas...Pats v Giants....

While I have no problem with how Explosion plays on the field, this coach is clearly violating recruiting rules. He is calling girls currently playing for other U13 teams and trying to get them to come to Explosion during this season. I understand protests have been filed with the league.

Obviously the coach didn't get the number of recruits that he was looking for during the first round of try outs so he hoped to catch a few girls who might be looking to jump ship now that they are consistantly winning. They had a real short bench when my our teams met and the photo on the Explosion site only showed thirteen girls.
To you Explosion people, be proud of the efforts you girls are putting out and save the recruiting for next June.

Nothing will come of the protests. Here is another loophole that Expl. is involved in. Players on other clubs are being asked to play with Explosion's futsal squad in an attempt to get that player to make the jump to the soccer squad. Explosion parents would also be angry to know that some of these players are being told that they can play for free if they agree to move. The fish is rotting from the head down.

Everyone knows the teams that play in the Super Y are terrible and don;t have a chance to compete against the great MAPLE teams - especially against the great stars - the dominating MAPLE team!!!!!!! OH, maybe you all that think U13 girls soccer in MA starts and ends with the Stars and MAPLE should get a life and realize the stars are just another team and super Y teams can play the game just as well and have some great talent. Oh, and some of that Seacoast talent is now coming from MA cities and towns because, what do you know, some people actually like to play super Y, which is getting better all the time!

Seacoast is legit. I used to coach at a high level in NH (not at any NH club) and personally know SUSC coaches and the SUSC "system". They are for real and could likely win the Mass State Cup in nearly every age group in both boys and girls. If I lived closer I would want to be on Staff there.

What a load of rubbish, SUSC is a decent club but they would not win state cup at any age group in MA. I am from another club but was at the huge upset?????? of Seacoast getting a tie with Stars. Let me tell you it was not even close (aprt from the score) my daughters team at U13 which is not that strong and is struggling in Maple div 1 could compete with Seacoast.

Seacoast is legit. I used to coach at a high level in NH (not at any NH club) and personally know SUSC coaches and the SUSC "system". They are for real and could likely win the Mass State Cup in nearly every age group in both boys and girls. If I lived closer I would want to be on Staff there.

What a load of rubbish, SUSC is a decent club but they would not win state cup at any age group in MA. I am from another club but was at the huge upset?????? of Seacoast getting a tie with Stars. Let me tell you it was not even close (aprt from the score) my daughters team at U13 which is not that strong and is struggling in Maple div 1 could compete with Seacoast.

Scorps beat Seacoast at the Stars tournament and it wasn't even that close, Seacoast never got near the Scorps goal. Explosion tied them 5-5 at the same tournament.

Seacoast like every team has its strong teams and weak ones. In Super Y at the older age group they have a few individuals that stand out. As a team, not so much. This started with a Seacoast tie at U13 in a 50 minute game at 8:00a for girls who had played 3 previous games over the last 2 days. Not to take anything away from Seacoast who played strong and took advantage of the chance they had. But Stars U13 looked tired, unmotivated. Had poor 1st touches into pressure, no linkage in the midfield. They looked off. Now maybe it was because of the great play by Seacoast, but in my opinion- the Stars girls just didn't show up for the game.
9 times out of 10 the Stars win by 2+ in a 50 minute game with Seacoast.
Got to love making excuses. Both teams had played the same number of games. Seacoast tied stars. Leave it at that. You can not be serious trying to predict what will happen in the next 10 games they play. Seacoast is a legitimate cub that creates good teams and good players. Whether they win, tie or lose the next 10 times they play the scorpions or the Stars in this age group the point is simple. They tied in THIS game. The reference to this game many, many posts ago was clearly stating that the overhype of the Stars team, who has overpowered what seems like a pretty weak MAPLE group, is exactly that..... Overhyped. Just like every year a new group of U13's hit this forum and the parents go wild about how great their kid's team is. It's U13 soccer and you can not tell a darn thing about these teams in the grand scheme of things until they get out and start playing multiple tournaments over the next 12 to 18 months. Seacoast tied what is considered by everyone here to be THE BEST TEAM IN MA at U13. Its a reference point. And btw both Seacoast and Stars beat BWRI at the tournament right? So the tie does not seem to be a fluke......

No past U13 group of parents has even come close to being like this group and I think it will be a long time until another U13 group of parents is like this group. They are in a class all their own.

A well played game by Explosion who scored 4 unanswered goals in their deserved victory. Scizophrenic Scorpions team played poorly with credit to Explosion midfield. Also, not sure what all of the earlier chatter was about concerning Explosion parents. No sign of any problems as reported earlier.

Stars-absolutely, but Scorps need to get it together if they want to be up there. They are a great team, but this was not one of their better seasons. Explosion is a surprise but can they keep it up? Let's face it, they are no doubt #2 for the season no matter what happens next weekend against RI Rays. We need to be realistic and look at the season as it plays out. I don't think the outcome of this season was quite what everyone expected. What makes you so sure for 6/1 & 6/2 Stars/Scorpions? The only consistent #1 team is Stars.

What's the surprise with Fuller? They always come undone at U13. it's like a tradition.
The true surprise is that people really think that what happens in the fall season is going to impact the spring or the state cup. I'm going to agree that the Stars and Scorpions will meet in June as well. Teams like the Scorpions don't put a lot of stock in their league results, or their fall results. The Scorpions U14 team finished fourth in the league last spring and then ended up in the state cup final. The Scorpions U13 team is not as strong as the Scorpions U14 team for sure, but I'm sure the coach isn't too concerned about finishing lower in the fall standings. I think they finished pretty low last year and then cruised through the tournament losing to Stars on a last second goal in the semifinal.

I would have thought the same too, but Western did not play a good game, especially when Puma keeps 8 in the box. Western just doesn't have it and I would have to agree with the prognosticators that this team is on the downside.

They have to keep 8 in their box, they lost a great keeper to MPS and have not found a replacement.
