Stunk up the field in Dallas! I can hardly wait for the full NT to do the same in the WC.

As stated in a previous thread too many players who have the right connections and not enough players who should be on the team. Rongen is a poster boy for this old boys cash/influence culture. As long as that is the case here we are going nowhere in joining the big boys of world soccer.

Seriously bro, why don't you go back into the bathroom and finish reading your supermarket tabloid so you can prepare for the Martian invasion.

If you think that money doesn't buy influence in the soccer world, just as it does in society as a whole, then you are the most naive person on this planet. It happens all the time. Just one quick example do you really think all the little Susie's and Tyler's that go to ID camps are the cream of the crop? And not just in this state it goes on everywhere. Now you can go back to your Hans Christian Anderson

living in the real world.
Do Old wives fork out tickets to sporting events, always pick up coaches tab, concert tkts, private training sessions for becky. Everything necessary to grease the wheels. And of course this doesnt influence coaches in the slightest, when it comes to making decisions which may involve these folks kids. Look, the rest of us have all come to accept that this is part and parcel of youth sports in this, and every other state. On the other hand it all seems to be news to you, God bless your innocence.

So instead of bemoaning the "politics", why not use this as a true parenting opportunity, figure out what part(s) of her game need work, and see if she can work hard and make it next year. That way, if after college she doesn't get a job she interviews for, she won't blame it on the fact that another candidate was chosen because they bought the interviewer a Grande Soy Latte at Starbucks.

We all agree that there are questionable choices made by coaches in picking teams and pools. Sometimes we are looking at the right time and we see something good. Sometimes, we see something but just get it wrong.
I assure you that no coach picking at the regional and national pool level has picked a player because of a family offering something to a coach. State coached lobby for their players, but no money, meals, or favors change hands. In my experience, this is always an excuse used by those that thought they should be picked instead of someone else, but wasn't.

Well, if some of the posters are to believed, and the players on some of these national squads are the best of the best, and have got there entirely on there merits, then we are in trouble!

Yah, right.
The problem isn't so much who gets picked, but how to train young players so that the best of them are in a position to compete internationally. You people are all worried about who will win the U12 state cup instead of being concerned about who is coaching your kids and what they are being taught. As the paying customer, you are demanding that your kids be part of a winning team/club. And if the team does not win, or (God forbid) gets relegated to D2, you have shown by the history of your past actions that you are out of there and off to a team that will win. Even if your kid is playing for a great coach who is teaching them the skills they will need later on. So to have you then complain about the performance of our national teams versus those countries who generally train their youth players in a an environment much less focussed on winning and heavy on teaching the proper technique is really disingenuous.

Yah, right.

Good point there though.
