    AIDING AND ABETTING.....AGAIN!

C hris C orteg must not feel any responsibility or remorse for his past actions in aiding a convicted felon to illegally coach MI soccer youth.

Exerpt from Monday, April 24, 2006 Detroit News article, Metro Detroit soccer coach's turf: A trail of trouble
Man who coaches youth teams to victory has criminal record, violent past, showing background check difficulties. by F red G irard / The Detroit News

"In August 2001, C hristensen's longtime friend C hris C orteg, then coach of Macomb Community College's soccer team, hired C hristensen as an assistant. C orteg knew of C hristensen's felony conviction in Georgia; but C hristensen lied on his application and resume -- saying he has a degree from Oakland University, which he doesn't; that he was an All-American player there, which he wasn't; and, most importantly, stating that he had never been convicted of a felony.

Macomb's team won the national championship, but when officials learned of C hristensen's past, neither he nor C orteg was rehired.

C orteg moved to Utica Eisenhower High as coach, and was again successful. His team amassed a 42-4-4 two-year record and consecutive Macomb Area Conference titles, and C orteg was promoted to athletic director.

Last October, however, C orteg was suspended, docked pay and placed on probation when school officials learned he had used C hristensen as an assistant.

"You put the reputation of Utica Community Schools at risk," Assistant Superintendent D avid B erube wrote C orteg in a letter of admonishment. "You were more concerned about the soccer program and helping out an acquaintance (C hristensen) than you were about how the community may view Utica Community Schools' safety standards by permitting a convicted felon to work with students." "

Now fast forward to the present...C orteg, the State Coach for the Michigan Soccer Association Coach has formally requested the MSA board to allow C hristensen to coach their men's U23 team. Are these two dating or what? Seriously, from the July 2008 MSA Board Minutes under the State Coach report:

"...C orteg formally requested having M ark C hristensen as a coach for a U23 team...."
