    Pathetic is........

    East Lake Girls Soccer Coach.

Next year, I would like to see this "coach" take the starting quarterback and running back and just sit them for an entire game against the defending champion of the league, never mind the defending state champion. Would never happen.

This guy has no business coaching a soccer team, maybe no business coaching any team. He should hand in his resignation tomorrow morning.

Maybe there was a reason for why they were sitting the bench.

Actually was a close game, 1-0 East Lake at half, 2-1 Palm Harbor won. East Lake coach played JV players brought up this week for much of the game. Not sure what he was trying to prove. Did not start or play one of the Sr captains or the two leading scorers on the team. No injury, no discipline, just decided not to play them. Definetly a head scratcher.

There was undoubtedly a reason that the parents on the sidelines do not know about and perhaps the players are not talking about. Some lesson to be taught/learned. Hopefully it was a lesson that needed to be taught.

I am a HS School and you are correct. There are issues within the team that stay within the team if rules are broken etc. Over the course of my career I have benched/disciplined athletes for missing practice, always being late, cussing grades, attitude, bullying, drugs/alcohol use, grades, skipping, etc., etc A lot of this is within the team. If the player happens to be a starter and a star then he can explain to his parents, schoolmates, girlfriend, why he didn't play of course it will be their version. Maybe it could simply be that he wanted to give some game experience to some JV players before playoffs. The point I am trying to make is it is an issue within the team and the coach weighs the infraction according to his team's rules and regulations and then hands out the discplinary action.

                  this is very possible.
but more likely, it is another HS soccer coach who has no business coaching. you get what you pay for? right? and i guess we don't pay much, so we don't get much.
it has become more apparent over the years that these HS coahes that have never coached or played soccer or just have HS experience are horrible. the teams that have coaches with club coaching experience are obviously much better off, not always, but most of the time.
hs soccer really should be fun. it certainly is not going to bring the scouts unless you are in the state's final four and then there are only a handful. the good players are on good club teams with the scouts in touch.
SO JUST HAVE FUN..... and the HS coaches with the ego problems really need to find a new pass time. let the kids enjoy HIGH SCHOOL.

There were no issues or problems with the players. The East Lake coach is aware he is totally inferior in soccer knowledge when compared to the Palm Harbor high school coach. We all know the Palm Harbor high school coach also has coached championship premier club teams for years. In fact, the 2 leading scorers on East Lake are his club players. In fact, last week when Palm Harobr beat East Lake, the Palm Harbor coach was interviewed in the newspaper in which he told his strategy for the game.

The East Lake coach realizes the more Palm Harbor sees his players, the more Palm Harbor will be able to dominate East Lake. That is why he not only used the substitutes yesterday, but often played the girls out of thier normal positions.
It is obvious the East Lake coach has no strategy.

Why does the assistant coach of East Lake, who knows something about soccer, no longer come to the games? I heard it was because the East Lake coach ignores him. It is too bad this situation exists, as the East Lake team has enormous talent that is not being refined.

He obviously did not take the game seriously. Yet, this was the first time all season he substituted in this manner. the big question is why?

He usually keeps his starters in for the entire game, yet in this game he played his best defender at forward for half a game, did not play his 2 leading scorers at all and played a freshman goalie just up from JV for the second half replacing a goalie with 9 shutouts this year. He made a mockery of the game.

Was it a district game. No.
Did the game hurt anyones standings. No.
Did it hurt the feelings of some parents who wanted there kids to play regardless of the experience younger less experienced player could get playing against a good high school team. YES!!!!!!!!

Most high school teams really suck. You don't get good experience when you are mercy ruling the other team. What's the big deal.. The girls that did get to play apparently played a pretty good game against Palm Harbor as the score was only 2-1 with "all the starters on the bench'. What was the score the last time the starters were in against Palm Harbor. I think we have some cranky parents afraid that there girls positions may be put in jeapordy by a bunch of enthusiastic freshman.

This idea could work for the Bucs. Maybe Gruden should take some tips from the Eastlake coach.
