      Re: GU-14 Chinook Cup

      Hey Eggy,

Nice to see you and DD at Ireland's PQT game today. Thanks, for cheering the girls on. Hope things went well for FCSC Nemesis @ Mustang. Sorry that FCSC will not be participating at Chinook Cup, but for those who are, here's my take on the results...

      Bracket A:
      1. Northwest Nationals Red
      2. ESUFC Sunderland
      3. Synergy FC Clark
      4. Three Rivers Lightning

** My thoughts are in synch with yours. NWN should be too much for Sunderland, but ESU should finish ahead of Synergy & Lightning.

      Bracket B:
      1. Crossfire Premier Black
      2. Westsound Red
      3. FC Willametter Possession
      4. Coeur d Alene Sting

** Having played them @ Crossfire, Ireland can attest that Xfire's B team is solid; would be a highly competitive gold team in Oregon. They will be too much for FCW Possession; a team carrying he mantle of State Champion, but having difficulty living up to it this season. Crossfire defeats FCW and breezes to first in this bracket. Westsound does not play Xfire and and plays well enough points to finish 2nd.

      Bracket C:
      1. Eastside FC Red
      2. Capital Premier Red
      3. WSM Harambee
      4. Lakewood Legacy

** Eastside is really a class apart from their bracket mates and wins this group without much difficulty. WSM might get second if they find their offense, 3rd (or possibly 4th) if they don't.

      Bracket D:
      1. SSC Ireland
      1. or 2. Columbia Timbers Red

      3. Spokane Elite Philp
      4. FC Alliance Gold

** No big surprise that I'd select Ireland, but the rationale is pretty sound... they're 95% healthy now; possibly 100% if a key member of the defense returns from injury rehab... the offense is finally clicking again after being in a funk since March... and the team is playing well and gelling as a team; complete with our new scoring midfielder. The Timbers are a great team, even with the loss of some good players, and they may tie Ireland as the two do not play on another.

The Play-off rounds on Saturday & Sunday ought to provide some great action. Safe travels to all teams outside of Portland, and good luck to all teams! :)

Hey SD... Yes, more games will take place on Saturday & the Finals will be on Sunday. Chinook Cup is basically split into two parts. The Thursday & Friday games are basically a mini-qualifying tournament. The teams performing well after the first two games are reallocated into the highest bracket; mid-level teams into another bracket and the weakest teams into the lowest bracket. Each bracket then turns into its own tournament. The result is a better pairing of like-talent teams which make for better, well-balanced competition. For the kids it means more of them will play in meaningful games, and more teams play for medals. It's a well-run and probably rivals LO Nike Cup as Oregon's best club tournament. See you there! :D

So SD and all the rest of you that are going to the Chinook Cup, please let us know how the games are going. We really need an Oregon team to win this tournament.

Good Luck to all the teams at all the age groups and wish we were playing too.

We'll give it our best shot! (U13 that is) Well, not really since at least 6 girls won't be at the first game and probably 4 the second, but we'll do our best!

                Best of luck to all.

                Cheers!
