Great club with super coaches running a clean program. No one will ever read garbage about Bloomfield Force on this or any other soccer forum.

Girls U-19 team to disband now

The Force is forever the champ.

The Force Football Club's U-19 girls soccer team was crowned the U.S. Youth Soccer national champion last Sunday in North Little Rock, Ark.

The Bloomfield Hills-based team defeated the Slammers FC (Newport Beach, Calif.) in the finals, 2-1, for the second straight year.

Sarah Stanczyk of Grosse Pointe South was one of the key players on the Force's 18-member roster.

After the winning U-18 title, the Force players reunited for this summer, and won it all again. And because U-19 is the oldest age group sanctioned by U.S. Youth Soccer, the Force will permanently disband and can never be beaten again.

"They've done everything they can do," said Andy Wagstaff, who started this team at U-10 and has been the coach throughout.

In the U-19 finals, the Force surrendered a seventh-minute goal, and didn't score the equalizer until the 78th minute.

Laura Heyboer redirected a Kellie Walker pass to Dani Haelewyn, who drilled home a left-footed 18-yarder.

Six minutes later, Amanda Bowery headed in a long pass from Allison Drutchas for what proved to be the clincher. Bowery also scored the tying goal late in last year's finals.

"The girls once again showed tremendous character to come back," Wagstaff said. "Their character and determination are second to none."

Heyboer and goalie Jill Flietstra earned the Golden Boot and Golden Glove honors, respectively, for the second straight year. For that, the National Soccer Hall of Fame asked them for two articles of apparel each to display in its Oneonta, N.Y., museum.
