A lot of clubs are announcing their player placement plans for the 2020-2021 season, but what do those plans look like for new players coming into the club? It seems near impossible for a ECNL team to pick a girl without seeing her play. At this point, it seems like whoever writes the best email will be given the spot. Anyone know what this will look like?

The ECNL girls coaches (at least the older ages) already know the names\clubs of any girls they are interested in. Sorry emails are not going to work. However, there should be a good chance of getting on an RCL B/C team then getting know at the club and hopefully move up next year.

For the first time in forever, clubs are not having simultaneous in person tryouts that effectively prevent most people from considering options. Instead, at no cost, anyone can express interest in as many clubs as they want, talk to coaches before making a decision, and decide based on the opportunities available.

Players on ECNL teams that displaced Reign players might want to join should ask their coach straight up if they're going to be retaining their spot so they can plan accordingly.
Great that SU has created this format to keep parents informed.

Placement will be for a spot on your club and not a team per se.
Also dont think for one second that all the RCL heads didnt get together and come up with a plan to help each other out as a whole to make sure everything didnt crumble.
When did coaching youth soccer become a full time job for some?

My dd is a high level player in ECNL. We know all of the high level girls in ECNL and Reign in our age group. We have known these girls since U11 pre-GDA and the list has changed, but you have your core group. Coaches have a much better view of talent than we do, but if we know which girls are coming in at any club, we have a pretty good idea who will be cut.
The parents who were never really part of this group are the ones freaking out b/c they do not really have a strong gauge of each player. Some of the Reign and ECNL are figuring out where their dd will play the most and have an impact. There are no real strangers here after years of playing with them, like a dysfunctional extended family. Family Reunion Time! :)

Right now clubs aren't worried about the bring in quality, that is just a bonus. They are worried about the quantity of players that are coming in. There is a whole lot of coaches that need to be retained that do this full time. How we ever got to the point of coaching youth soccer full time is another story.
