    Class of 2022 - how's it going?

Taking a page from the 2021 thread, how is it working for your 2022's? What's the recruiting plan?

My D was injured part of last season so went to some ID clinics this summer and is hoping to get some traction over the next couple of months.

Trying to figure all of this recruiting out. What's your experience been so far? What should the next steps be since there can't be any communication between college coach and player? How do you get the definitive that a coach may make an offer since she has to wait until June?

This sounds like a nail biting 11 months ahead. Best wishes to all!

Attended some ID clinics over the past 5 months. Had some traction with a couple of schools and realized we were probably over-reaching with a couple. We'll most likely focus on mid-level D1 schools (< 80 RPI) over the next 12 months as D had success in those camps. We'll also look at an Ivy (we'll see how the SAT's go) and a few D3's, but the Ivy will be a stretch financially.

The upside of all this is D is starting to narrow down what she likes/dislikes about college campus, location, etc. She definitely doesn't want an urban type campus, so it helps to start to focus the list.

We'll check in with the coach of her top pick once HS season is done and provide our ECNL game schedule and showcases. As long as he comes to see her play, I think we'll be on track as she has already attended his camps twice and gotten really good feedback (pre-rule chance).

Have to have a plan of attack and keep things focused, but at the same time, this process is more like a marathon than a sprint. Been very mindful of fitness, strength and conditioning and injury prevention given the next 12 months is huge for D1 recruiting for girls.

We are talking about rising sophomores right?
You parents are going to drive your daughters nuts!!!
Unless your kid is the top of the top, I wouldn't bother attending any ID camps yet.

There are more than 350 D1 soccer teams alone. The top 40 or 50 might be completely full of 2021s and top 20 mostly full up with 2022s but there is plenty of time left for 2022s. With the colleges following the new rules, they are concentrating on the 2021s right now since they could only start talking to them a few days ago. Next summer will be the big ramp up D1 ID camps for all but the super stud 2022s.

Seems the thread OP is insecure or not on the new timeframe. Or both.

Based on the new timeline, in order for a college coach to see them they either need to attend showcases this season or ID clinics prior to June 15th. Unfortunately, that seems to be the reality.

Or after June 15th when the college coaches will be concentrating on 2022s. Super studs go earlier but even super studs can wait because super studs can go any time. Coaches will always find a spot. College coaches really seem to be following the new rules.

They have all of this upcoming season to do that and other than some true top players not many freshmen would have gotten many looks already. Certainly rising sophomores should be reaching out to coaches, sending schedules etc. But right now most coaches are locking in their 2021 recruiting class. Once that's mostly done they'll start with the next year - and in the meantime they also have their entire season to get through as well.

Wait until 7/15 of their sophomore/junior year if you want D1. Most D2 will try to take advantage of this and D3 will still wait until the Memorial Day of the Junior year for all the players that think they are D1 but don’t make the cut.

This advice will have your D a year late for D1.
She should already have reached out this past spring to get on early lists.
Enjoy HS season, maybe attend a 1-day local fall camp, then reconnect with target schools with winter tourney and spring season schedule. They will figure out a way to let club coach know they are tracking. 6/15 will be first direct contact but it shouldn't be when you start

Wrong. Rising sophomores should start reaching out to coaches now (if they haven't already), especially after HS season ends and club/showcases start coming up. If they are good and local a school might even send an assistant out to watch a HS game. Just because coaches can't respond back doesn't mean they aren't preparing lists.

This was exactly our experience with a '21. Couple of assistants came to HS games in fall, the nets were cast wide during Winter Showcase and Spring Season. Because we were under the old rules (through April) there was lots of email forwards and player initiated phone calls in that '22s won't have.

It's reasonable to assume the timeline may be pushed back slightly since coaches-players will want direct contact, but I think the only difference for '22s will be the methods coaches use to communicate interest, and gather info on players.

                            Thank you. Good to know.

It seems some of the higher D1s are halfway to almost done filling spots for the 2022's already. I'm sure these new rules are meant to curb that but it will take a year or two for the new rules to make an impact on early recruiting.

I’m so confused. The 2021 thread just said it’s actually not too late for 2021s for D1. If 2022’s are already filled up at all the top schools, then they might be right about almost all D1 finished or almost finished for 2021s. I’m hoping more programs have openings for both 2021s and 2022s.
