Reign Academy 16/17 has had quite a few call ups in the last couple months. Impressive they are from one team.

Thos is an interesting article about national team scouting but it may have more to do with the boys side.

I think every athlete who gets a national team call up is dedicated and hard working and I don't wish to take anything away from them...but there's politics involved in selections on both the girls' and boys' sides. There's skill and there's also who fits the mold, the image US Soccer wants to project. This can trickle down to clubs, where players who may be overtaking a teammate from the national team aren't fully allowed to ascend because US Soccer wants to keep certain youth players in place.

us soccer is all in on GDA, which is a superior all around program for developing future national team players. it's not a superior system for winning games, and that's not the point.
it's true that at this time many excellent athletes are choosing ecnl, however us soccer believes that the ECNL system (like hs soccer) does not optimally develop players to learn the tactical, technical, and personal skills to become future WNT players.
by overlooking ECNL players and forcing potential national team players to choose GDA in order to get in the WNT system and gain control of their development (ostensibly for the benefit of the player as well as the WNT). part of this deliberate sure but part of it is practical. it's difficult to choose a player for the YNT if you have no control over their development on a daily basis. you'd have to just hope that they learn the things that are necessary to be a successful WNT player in some way outside your system.
tactics are paramount on the NT level where every team has excellent athletes who are technically skilled. ECNL does not teach high level soccer tactics to any significant degree. they do train very well in ways to win youth league games but nothing that will win on a NT scale when run and gun and pure athleticism no longer works.
rather than pull ECNL players into youth NT camps once or twice a year and leave their long term development to others and also lose them to hs soccer for 3 months of the training year, US soccer has decided to take the best athletes they have full control over and devote their resources into making them the best national team candidates that they possibly can.
agree that the overall athletic talent in ECNL is higher than GDA for the most part and that's why head to head ECNL wins games. however long term as true national team level athletes separate themselves and choose GDA this will change. It happened a long time ago on the boys side.

Nobody from MVLA was called in, which was the point of the post. Top team in the country the last 2 or 3 years, and they consistently whooped the other local GDA team in their area, who got 4 call ups, when they payed head to head over the years.

"us soccer is all in on GDA, which is a superior all around program for developing future national team players. it's not a superior system for winning games"
"ECNL does not teach high level soccer tactics to any significant degree."
Neither ECNL or GDA are the ones developing players or teaching tactics. It is the clubs that are doing the teaching and developing, and the quality of development and coaching is dependent on the club, not the platform If you believe that each club in the GDA is developing their players in the same way and with the same quality, you are severely mistaken.
Crossfire is not all of a sudden stop teaching soccer tactics because they've now decided to go all-in ECNL. MVLA did not become a worse place to develop national team players when they decided to turned down GDA and stay ECNL(one of their players is a starter on the current NT, and they've produced many NT level players in their history).
Crossfire nearly swept Reign in head to games last this year. They were in the same platform, so what's the reason Crossfire was better at winning games?
US Soccer is trying to sell this story that their GDA platform is superior, but that's all BS. Same clubs, same coaches as before GDA was created. The patch doesn't change any of that. The article posted on the last page makes US Soccer's BS so much more apparent.
