College Soccer Division I, II, III, NAIA Recruiting

What are parents wanting to know the most when it comes to the recruiting process for their child? Are parents well informed on how the recruiting process works for each division and gender?

Confusing. If you get a D1 Patriot League offer do you run with it or wait to see if you can get an offer from a NESCAC like Williams? Should you try for a better D1? Is a bird in the hand worth more than two in the bush that might not be caught?

Do you have an offer from a patriot league school?

Could you be any more broad and have less of a point? Or is this a lead-up to sell some recruiting service that will tell us what we already know?

Really? How about a more targeted question? What's your point?

Are you saying that there a lot of companies that help parents with the recruiting process?

              Silly question.

If the offer from any school is one that agrees with the athlete and his/her parents, then don't shop it, take it. Who cares what school/division if all the planets align with the athlete and family. These are personal decisions that can not be answered by TS keyboarders.

Depends on how much the offer is for and how much your player likes the patriot league school. If patriot is offering, there is chance for others offering. Tough part is getting offers in at the same time so they can be compared before deciding. Personally would wait a little but sometimes you get burned doing that.

Agree with academic fit but isn’t Williams a much better soccer team than the bottom half of Patriot league? League and team strength also matters. Not as much as academics but I know soccer strength and style also matter in her decisions.

Is this true for men's soccer as well? (William's, or Tufts, better than bottom half patriot league?

Is it? There are a lot of weak bottom half of any league teams. Are we talking bottom half of any of the leagues here? The poster didn't say. Strong players can turn around any program which is why the RPI's seesaw each year outside of the top 30. Something to consider is style of play. If the style isn't something the player likes, it can be a long 4 years or even a long freshman year until she transfers.

First...Find a good school your kid will want to go to and then worry about soccer. Remember that DI owns your kid, while DIII less so. Hell, they may not even play in the first few years at any school they go to!

or they may play and get cut, or never play then get cut or quit. Always pick a school you'd be thrilled to attend with or without soccer. The odds of playing by senior year aren't good

When you read some of these post you have to know that someone kid got royally screwed by some coach. Not everyone makes poor decisions and then has to spend years blasting away on this site because of it.
