Pure speculation and rumor. USSF doesn't care one iota about HS. They only care about a few hundred boys and girls across the US in total and they dont want them playing HS. The other thousands of players in the system, who will never be on the national teams or go pro, are practice cones.
Bigger issue is if the give it to the girls they have to give it to the boys. With MLS clubs threatening to pull out of BDA USSF cannot allow that. Caving on HS also makes them just another league. The HS issue isn't the only reason GDA is struggling. It's got too many poor quality clubs, coaching and players.

Going to single-year age groups, playing multiple games on weekends, HS, subbing, same # of clubs (which is too many), no teeth on licensure rules ..... anything to be king.

They need to keep the league alive and viable for the girls who will be aging into DA in the next couple of years, who will never have played middle school or HS soccer and who will not miss it at all.
