I have been hearing this too but I think its just rumor. You would think they would change it because thats the #1 reason why many arent interested in DA. Although I still don't know why anyone who wants to play at the highest level of soccer would put HS as a priority

Pure speculation and rumor. USSF doesn't care one iota about HS. They only care about a few hundred boys and girls across the US in total and they dont want them playing HS. The other thousands of players in the system, who will never be on the national teams or go pro, are practice cones.

Bigger issue is if the give it to the girls they have to give it to the boys. With MLS clubs threatening to pull out of BDA USSF cannot allow that. Caving on HS also makes them just another league. The HS issue isn't the only reason GDA is struggling. It's got too many poor quality clubs, coaching and players.

Do you know what they care even more about? Being called the top league in the land for boys and girls. More important than the kids, the development, or the NTs ..... they care about power and money and would do anything to be top dog, even if it means replicating everything ECNL (which they say is all bad) whom they are looking to put out of business. Going to single-year age groups, playing multiple games on weekends, HS, subbing, same # of clubs (which is too many), no teeth on licensure rules ..... anything to be king.

But they've done all that without changing the HS rule. No need to change it when there's always a new set of suckers to join - clubs or families. They're still #1 for boys and that's all they really care about. They never cared about the women, which is why they never started GDA when they did BDA. USSF rushed out GDA when the female NT players started suing for unequal treatment. If they really cared about the quality of GDA it never would have been executed the way it was. They're still getting most (not all) of the YNT into the system and that's good enough for them. if they lose a few it's collateral damage.

They need to keep the league alive and viable for the girls who will be aging into DA in the next couple of years, who will never have played middle school or HS soccer and who will not miss it at all.

They are not helping themselves adding the clubs that they are adding. The stronger league on the east coast is ECNL. The clubs in that league are attracting the best players. A very strong 08 player on a PDA team would never leave PDA to go to Cedar Stars. It’s just not happening
