Why can't BBA stay in two top leagues?

Our kids are young right now so this isn't a deal breaker for us yet. Both have demonstrated that they have some talent and they tell us they want to play for the best team possible. BBA/Nefc is very convenient for us. Our fear is the potential lack of growth opportunities as our kids mature in the sport. As it stands the teams our kids play for are very strong. It's fun to watch their success. Over the past few weeks parents on the sidelines started talking about the clubs inability to remain in the ECNL and the Development Academy as the only option. They're already trying to figure out how to best position their kids for other leagues. We wish BBA/Nefc still offered these opportunities. Is there any likelihood that they could be invited back into the Ecnl league next year?

It is interesting that BBA released a press release that initially stated that they would be in the Ecnl for two years. Parents on our now U17 team felt that there would be no need to go DA for U18 and now it's DA and miss Senior year of High School Soccer or back to the New England NPL. For younger players it's not such a conundrum.

Well you know that BBA has no seat on the US Club Soccer Board of Directors so when they accepted the GDA spot the simplest thing for US Club local BOD's to do to protect their place was to oust them. So with BBA/NEFC being as big and as successful as Stars and being charter members of USSF's pro league will they (and pro team sponsored GDAs) dominate GDA like US Club BOD affiliated clubs (Stars, PDA, etc) will dominate Ecnl play?

If your comfortable with your daughter playing in a lower I think moving to another ECNL team would be your best option, if you have an option at all.

Our fear is that the completion in both GDA and Ecnl will now be totally inconsistent and a costly endeavor and that maybe it would make sense to find the best New England NPL team for her age group (that is consolidating talent) and save money. We can have her focus on local play and stay on her D1 HS squad and get the most bang for the buck withoubtge stress and burnout. When my my college Junior was young it was destination teams that drew the talent regardless of league or club.

NPL is that last destination I want my daughter heading to.

Yes, we can aford the expense of travel and will enjoy the soccer even though we know it will be far less competitive than in the past in the Ecnl. It's a ticket to college and that's all that matters.

Actually it's kind of funny... our Nefc teams were able to climb to the top of the NPL easily but no so much in the Ecnl - that's one good thing about the NPL - average teams look so much better there.

This post sounds like a bit of a jab at Nefc but it does make one think. If you have a really good player why not gravitate to a team in a league where it's easier to crush the completion, get tons of time on the ball, improve individually, build individual stats and get noticed. All this bunk about playing the best competition is moot now with the dispersal of the talent pool anyway. Jmo

This is so true - why spend the money on all the travel when your kid can focus on playing the game and you can maintain balance for your child and your families life. The talented players will still get recruited regardless.

Phony thread. Again. We can try to commit to its death, but the OP will keep posting and responding to his own posts in order to stir the pot.
