What are your lineups? Here is my "don't play, do play". Feel free to blast away, but I stand by my choices.

I was going to list my "say it ain't so" lineup, (like the worst of the worst lineups that BB could manage, since he is so good at that), but he deleted a few of my picks. Anyway, I saw the new roster and I think that he must have been reading his, not so good press clippings. He took off some of my more Cringe worthy players, so I had to revamp and just list my thoughts.

BB's revised lineup for the next couple of games in CONCACAF:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan, Tim Howard
DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra, Jonathan Bornstein, Steve Cherundolo, Jimmy Conrad, Clarence Goodson, Oguchi Onyewu, Jonathan Spector
MIDFIELDERS (7): Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, Benny Feilhaber, Stuart Holden, Robbie Rogers, José Francisco Torres
FORWARDS (6): Jozy Altidore, Conor Casey, Brian Ching, Kenny Cooper, Charlie Davies, Landon Donovan

Given this roster what is the best lineup and the worst?

Goalie: No brainer Howard

The defenders, well, he left on my least favorite, and most cringe worthy defender, J. Bornstein. Hate to say we are doomed, if he starts, but, we are. (Especially if he starts my least favorites in midfield. BTW. where is Demerit? Is he still injured? I liked him. I thought that Cherundolo was supposed to be good, but have not seen him play for ages, so maybe he is not game ready. Goodson, give me a break. Starting Bocanegra, Guch, Conrad and Spector.

The midfield: I do not care what anyone says, Dempsey is not a midfielder. He is lackadasical, and should not be inserted into the lineup until later in the game, like he was in the beginning, as a forward. I was also pleased to see that the "dreadlockful" Kyle Beckerman is gone, he was on my - list. I would also like to see BB start a less conservative and defense minded midfield, (which can not hold the ball, btw), for my more gutsy midfield. Donovan, Feilhaber, Torres, and Holden. While I think BB's son is not bad and can distribute the ball, (WHEN, he can hold it, and that is a part of the problem), I think his mental game might result in a card, in the toxic minefield of San Pedro Sula. Ditto for Clark. Also, I think Feilhaber and Torres are better. I also think Holden is better than Dempsey. He plays with more heart in the midfield and has shown that he's "got game". We will probably get lucky to get away with a tie there, but why not be more offense minded for a change? BB can alway sub in his son and others. Won't happen, but I can hope............

The forwards: My original cringe list, did have Casey and Ching as a duo, (the worst, or singularly, which = in my book, Can't score and Can't deliver. I hope it is "Don't play. Starting Davies and Altidore, with Dempsey as a SUB.

Something tells me, that when I tune into the game, I will still say, WHAT? The same old lineup!!! Cringe!!! But wait, NO game? No game on any viewing station that I know of???? What? Why are we the soccer watching public screwed almost every time that we try and watch our own USMNT???? Is this a vast right wing conspiracy, a sports conspiracy, a football, basketball, hockey and every other sport conspiracy, a network conspiracy? @#$%^&*()! Does anyone know where this game will be televised? I have NEVER heard of the channel. What is it again? They keep getting more and more obscure.

I agree with most of this. I think Bornstein may be getting a bad rap, but he has made some mistakes. Are there no other decent left backs in the US? Don't agree about Demerit, esp. if looking ahead to possible World Cup action. I would make the analogy of him looking like a good athlete who played football who senior year decided to join the soccer team. Doesn't look like a top-quality soccer player to me. Cherundolo, what is about 45 years old, and he's too small. Whatever happened to Wynne?

Basically agree about Dempsey, but he has played top-flight in England and just when you'r ready to bench him forever he seems to come up with a goal. He's definitely not as good as he thinks he is.

Conor Casey is not very good in my opinion, not on the world stage at least. I disagree about Ching. I like how he plays and his attitude...the kind of player I would want on my team.

Holden should be playing. Don't think Clark is a world-class player. Hard to say about Bradley, mostly because it's hard not to think about his father being the coach.

With all of the energy thrown in residency programs and DAP, are there really no 18, 19, or 20 year olds who are good enough to play? All of these clubs and players across the country and we have one player (Donovan) who actually looks and plays like a world-class soccer player?

Addendum: Robbie Rogers is a lefty, right? What about moving him to left back and keeping Bocanegra central?

Demerit is out with an eye infection, Cherundolo, is 30 actually, and small, While you are right in that Ching has a good attitude, I do not think that he is a world class player, or Casey for that matter. You would think that we could do better both in all areas than we do presently. I would like to see the midfield without Bradley, I know that he was out with a red, but I do not remember the game that he sat that well. Another one know who was playing in his spot and how they played?

You lost me on this comment and the Ching one. Rogers is a midfielder. And while I respect Chings attitude, I do not think that he plays with enough pace up top. He does work hard, but hasn't produced against Concacaf talent.
As far as the US playing well without M Bradley, they would have done well to play without BOTH in the USA/ Brazil game in the Confederations Cup. Game that Bradley sat with a red. Feilhaber was on the field, can't remember who else in mid, but game is tied and daddy B takes out Feilhaber, WHEN WE NEED possession in the middle of the field, and replaces him with TaDa, Sacha Kljestan...AND then, when since we need goals, he takes out Josy Altidore and puts in DEFENSE, my favorite, Bornstein. We lose.

I know Rogers is a midfielder. I was wondering how he would do at left back, where many other teams have an offensively-minded player.

Maybe I am wrong, but the few times that I have seen Rodgers play, he never seemed that defensive minded. He seeded more like an attacker, has skill and speed, lots of speed. but defense is such a tough position I would not put someone in that hadn't played there before. Not in a have to tie game in San Pedro Sula.

I got an answer on the Fl board. Here it is for what it is worth:

"With every national team match, U.S. Soccer wants the television broadcast to reach the widest audience possible. However, the worldwide television rights to each CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match are the property of the hosting nation, meaning the hosting nation may distribute those rights at its discretion.

In regards to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s match against Honduras on October 10, the rights are owned by the Honduras federation, which chose to sell the U.S. television rights, in both English and Spanish, to a company which opted to broadcast via closed circuit feed only. As a result, the match will not be televised by any network or cable channel.

While U.S. Soccer would prefer the match be more accessible to fans, we have no broadcast rights in this instance."

http://www.ussoccer.com/Community/US...Locations.aspx

Also accessible from this page is a list of "Official U.S. Soccer Bars" where the game can be watched.

BTW, I went to the site listed above and it was gone. We probably can figure out the local bars that will carry the feed, but will someone tell me, does Honduras stand to make more money by filtering the game only into a very few channels, as opposed to allowing the games to be seen on cable or network? I am clueless on this, it seems that the more people viewing the games, the more money, I guess that is not the case.

Man, are you showing your ignorance. Take a look at Donovan's stats this year. Take a look at the game report.

"In the 28th minute Donovan took a free kick from the left side just on the edge of the penalty area, but his spinning service well punched away by Costa Rican goalkeeper Keilor Navas, who did well all evening to get his fists on the frequent U.S. services into the box.

In the 32nd minute, Donovan had a direct free-kick chance from just about the same distance as his goal against Honduras last Saturday, albeit on the other side of the penalty arc, but he spun his shot over the top.

In the 37th minute Donovan almost finished off a great solo run, lifting the ball over Costa Rican defender Luis Marin after collecting a flick header from Altidore. Donovan raced into the left side of the penalty box, but fired his left footer from a sharp angle over the bar from 10 yards out.

In the 42nd minute, Altidore was taken down on left side just above the penalty area. Donovan touched the ball to the right to Bradley, but his low, driven blast was deflected away for a corner kick.

The USA had two fantastic chances to score in the final two minutes of the first half. The first came when Altidore won the ball on the right wing with a powerful tackle. He played the ball into the middle for Casey, but he let it run to Donovan, who he tried to slot the ball into the lower right corner from just inside the penalty spot. Navas stabbed his left hand to the ground and made a fine save to smother the shot.

Less than minute later, Donovan burst down left flank and cut a pass back to Altidore in the middle as his defender slipped to the ground. Altidore took a touch to settle, but his powerful shot from 13 yards was batted away by the charging Navas, who closed the distance in an instant.

The USA finally broke though in the 72nd minute as Rogers crossed from the right wing. The ball was headed up in the air by Bradley and it fell to Donovan in the left side of the penalty area. He wound up on a defender, cut the ball into the middle and then shot quickly from 14 yards out. The low shot was parried by Navas, but Bradley slid to power the rebound into the roof of the net with his right foot from three yards away."

I'm pretty sure in a forum it's o.k to have an opinion about a professional player. Regardless. Read the article you posted...How many times does it say Donovan......but ......, or almost.....( amounting to nothing other than Bradley's sloppy goal). There is a reason he doesn't get signed in Europe.
In regards to World Class, that would be Costa Rica's striker.

That's a great question. I think there's no doubt that Jozy Altidore is one 19-year-old who deserves lots of playing time. It's just such a shame that Charlie Davies won't be playing alongside him!

You miss the point that he was quite involved in that game. If you are looking for goals by him, take a look at his stats. He's second to Altidore (6 goals) with 5, but he leads all players in assists, 10, and total points, 20. Nobody else even comes close on assists. He will be signed in Europe, probably England, but he'd be better served in Spain or France.
