I don't get it. Everyonre goes and stays at Stars but yet they are not the powerhouse. With so much talent and great coaches, why are they falling behind NEFC or even CFC?

Maybe because many Stars families believe in the coaching and the development their kids are experiencing--and, for some, the ECNL path. There really is no mystery here. But good luck to NEFC in its ongoing quest to convince its better players to stay the course.

It's ALL about development blah, blah, blah! I have seen Stars players come over to NEFC and they are technically weak, so they must be focusing on other areas of the game, right? The ECNL path is only viable if you have good teams and right now, even lowly NPL teams are beating Stars teams consistently. The landscape is changing and has been for a few years. Good luck to Stars attracting the talent they were once able to.
And please elaborate on how the landscape is changing. Are you implying ECNL is losing its grip?

ECNL is a huge commitment that many families aren't willing or prepared to make. Giving up High School soccer, the financial commitment, as well as the time commitment may not be worth it to some families. NEFC is just as good, if not better, and for the VERY few D1 recruits there will be plenty of exposure. Years ago maybe ECNL was the only option, however, that is no longer the case and parents are realizing it's just not worth it.

College coaches that do not look beyond the ECNL will miss out on talent.
