Help me understand NEP divisional rankings

How does the NEP rank its teams per division.

For the most part it's done by points, but in the case of a tie, how do they sort it out?

I would expect it would start with head to head competition and then look at goal differential. In some cases this doesn't seem to be the case. What am I missing?

No idea, but the normal way to break a tie in regular seasons standings would be GD--not head to head.

        Hope this helps:

Determination of Standings + Rules for Advancement

Teams will be awarded points on the following basis:
        Six(6) points for each Win
Three (3) points for each Tie
Zero (0) points for each Loss

Three(3) points for each goal scored up to a max of three(3) per game. Losing teams Will also receive points for their goals scored.

        One(1) point for each shutout

        Examples:#

A 0-0 tie will be scored as 4 points for each team(3 for tie, 1 for shutout)

A 4-2 game will be scored as 15 points for the winning team (6 for win,9 for goals) and 6 Points to the losing team (6 for goals).

        Tiebreakers
In the event of a tie in points at the end of bracket play; the winner for advancement to Semi-Final or Finals will be determined as follows:

        1. The winner in head to head competition. (If there is a 3 team tie, proceed to the next tie breaker)

        2. Goal differential, max of -/+4 per game (Team wins 5-0, only gets +4 GD, losing team gets -4)

        3.Most Goals For

        4. Most Shutouts

        5.Fewest Goals Against

        6. Most wins

If more than two teams are tied,we will run through steps 1 through 6 until a team or teams are eliminated. Once that happens, if we still have two or more teams alive, we return to the first step for any/all remaining teams and proceed through to step 6
        Eliminating teams along the way.

If a tie still exists after steps 1 through 6 , a coin toss will decide which team moves on.

        Wildcard Determination

In the event that a wild card team must be selected for the playoff rounds, the above procedure will be used across the entire flight. There will be no overtime in preliminary rounds.

This looks like it's from a tournament. There is some reasonable debate about whether head to head is a better tie breaker than GD for tournaments. In North America, it is trending that way. Globally GD is still the first tie breaker (as it is in the wc). For regular season standings, however, GD is widely viewed as a better measure of a teams performance over a season than a single head to head result.

Yeah, that is definitely from a tournament. As for NEP, pretty sure tiebreaker is goal difference, head to head, goals scored, goals against.

Actually its from NEP - guide lines - it is how they decide who gets into the NEP playoffs -
              (i.e - 1st place 2nd place....)

It can't be. It refers to "bracket play" and a "wild card."

                    If a team is 7-3-0 they get 24 points. (7*3) + (3*1)

Considering the NEP uses the 3 point for a win, 1 point for a draw scoring system, there is no way in hell that the scoring rules posted are for the NEP. The people posting this stuff are either trolling or stupid.

It is stupid simply because the competitive results in NEP are functionally downplayed and the seeding is really done by the clubs themselves. There is no promo/relegation in NEP or really any other rule based process for team placement. The premiership level is generally going to be the "C" team's from the larger clubs and the "A" teams from the smaller ones. The teams below those are going to be placed more by geographic considerations than anything in the championship brackets. If there is an outlier situation (ie a club with two "C" level teams) then the clubs will deal with it on a case by case basis.

Mostly. don't forget though, there is always one division per age group stacked with GPS teams that play each other so no one else can figure out how bad they are.
