Based on the last friendly match I watched between Stars Top girls team and our town D1 team I don't know how parents can come away with any other conclusion. A 3-2 Stars win with the town team hitting the post with 1 minute left? Really?

I'm no Stars fan and I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I sometimes get a real kick out of all the maneuvering and propaganda on TS.

Did anyone answer as to what age group this is? At the younger groups (U9,U10, U11,U12, even U13) this is not a surprising happening at all, for a couple of reasons one being that at this age a large part of the group is pure athleticism, speed, and size. I have to say, however, being from a very good town with a great program at some point (? U14) there is a clear separation between town and club soccer. This is the difference between training and/or the level of skill that more dedicated....and better....players have who tend to gravitate toward the club teams.
The other contributing variable is to know how many of the town players are also on other club teams.
As to what it means when a town team beats a club team......not much at the younger ages. Certainly, as your kid gets older and is still getting beat by town teams, you have to ask questions either about your club and/or about why you are spending so much money on your kid to play a sport that he/she might not be too good at.
That said, winning and losing aside, each parent is really only interested in one thing....their own kid.....and whether or not they are getting good training. Ultimately when they get older and maturity sets in, you hope that they possess the skills that will allow them to be a better player.
