    Futsal Teams

Hey, does anyone know how the Futsal teams from the Northeast made out in the Nationals this past weekend? Just curious if our region did well or not.

I have posted the web address for the results page but they have not updated it yet for this mornings' results. I do know that the U12G & U16G was won by GPS, the U14G was won by FutsalNH and the U15G was won by Samba. Not sure about the rest.

Nice showings already. I do know the U11 girls at least made it to the finals. Not sure of the results. Thanks for the link

FutsalNH U11 girls lost in the finals on a PK shootout...last shooter too. Heartbreaking.

Are there different youth futsal leagues around the country which have their own "National Championships"? While wonderful that so many local teams did so well... Considering FutsalNH is what 1 or 2 years old something seems odd that so many local teams made a "National" competition? No offense to those teams, but it's not like New Hampshire is a hotbed of soccer champions... So what's the deal here?

There is US Youth Futsal, which had their national championship this past week. Any team can participate in this. US Futsal had their Northeast regional championships in NJ, also this past weekend. Most of the participants were state cup winners from the participating northeastern states.

Their national are in July in California...

It's futsal not soccer...GPS elite teams did ok in regionals but lost to several of the NH teams. Good futsal training and coaching help vs just sticking a bunch of talented soccer players out there. A combo of both would be ideal though.

With that said you should know that the Nationals, although doesn't have all the best teams in the country, it does have several areas and teams that have been doing futsal a lot longer than the NH kids including the St Louis/Chicago/KC area. So a little respect to the players and coaches is probably justified. They are ahead of the curve but it is only going to get tougher as this is going to get bigger. Best jump on the train now.

I do know that the National Futsal Coach was there and did a clinic and several of the drills and ideas were the same as the FutsalNH trainings so they have at least a good handle on what is going on.

Let's be fair and not just shill for USFF. USYF teams play them all the time in different areas and it is pretty even. In fact DCFA which is typically known as one of the better USFF programs have been getting beaten regularly at the USYF national tournament.

That is not even close to being accurate. There are several regular club teams and not many if any state cup winners.

Congrats to the girls teams from NH (Samba & Futsal NH) who participated and won at the nationals. All very good teams and stacked up against some great competition from across the country. USFF or USYF, Cal Ripkin or Little League Championships, whatever. You did well against those who showed up and didn't show up.

Congrats to them. It does make more sense though knowing that there are two leagues. It made it confusing to be discussing National Champs when looking at the schedules / results and seeing few teams from big soccer areas (which yes, of course I know is different from futsal). To have that many teams from little old NH where futsal is a very recent addition for most make it to a National level needed some clarification. Thanks for that!

It is good to see Futsal take off in NH. The big soccer clubs mssed the boat on this sport. It is good training and the kids seem to enjoy a change of pace from the usual indoor training expereince.
